Maybe the cap and rotor. I tried to find a post with more information about what's going on with your truck, but I couldn't find it.
Have you thought about posting a thread in the Performance, Engines and Troubleshooting section?
Posting what you have and a more detailed account of what you've done and what the problems are could save you a bunch of needless part replacing. There are some pretty sharp folks there.

- Carb. Make sure it's clean and tuned properly.
- Timing. Make sure it's set right.
- Fuel filter. Make sure it's not clogged.

You could also put some Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas tank next time you fill up and it'll clean your valves and stuff.

My truck's sputtered at least a little bit at idle for as long as I can remember. :P

I only recently dug into the engine, and most of my questions were answered by other peoples similar questions.

I almost got some Marvel today, went for a tank of gas instead.
I'll look into a cap and rotor this weekend, thanks

I can understand that. Too bad Marvel ain't a fuel....lol

It's so nice not to have to keep adding antifreeze to the Cherokee....that new water pump's saving us a TON of money.

Yeah, I've been trying to get this damn thing to stop sucking the amount of fuel it does.
Somehow I burned through 10 gallons of gas in 2 days.
drove less than 20 miles.
it's killing me financially.

well, I am cheating on my 83 F350.

I got a 90 F350 today.

flat bed, brush guard, 7.3, 5 speed OD 4x4, lariat ex cab.

Has brakes like joshes truck used to, I will give it a brakes job and drive it.

Gets 3X the MPG of the 83, and even better than the V10.

KBB says it is worth $3,350, I got it for $1440!

Congrats on the new truck! Post some pics! :P

On my truck, I've got new brake pads on the front (if I remember right) and new shoes and drums on the back. I can stop that thing in a HURRY.

I have a vac. leak, so mine are not that great. I am looking into the hydroboost setup, Looks simple enough, and I could really use some better braking power

That vac leak might be the cause of the sputtering.

Well I'm off for the night, see ya'll on the flipside.
