Yeah- The ones on there are pretty whitish now. IDK, if they were clear I might like the looks of them. Makes me wish I'd went ahead and picked up those NOS ones a while back for cheap.
I do really like the look of the amber lenses though. The truck originally had the Argent grille and headlight doors and I have NOS headlight doors and a grille that are chrome/black.
A while back some people here were talking about going to the 82-86 grilles on their 80-81's. Different strokes.... If I had an 82-86 truck, I'd want to switch it to the 80-81 (but not in chrome/argent).
I got NOS wheel centers but they are the later black years, if i could find NOS reds in good shape I'd go with them, but I think the black look good too. The tailights are specific to the 80 model. The NOS I have are for the 81-88. The 80's are completely smooth on the outside and they curve in at the bottom on the side. These have 3 indented horizontal bands and are straight. I may need to do a little modification to the sheetmetal under them, I haven't installed them yet to see.
Other than the Camaro buckets, homemade console, and of course the 399W stroker everything else on the truck will be original or correct for original. (At least for now).

Speaking of transmissions, I'm giving serious thought to doing an auto-to-manual conversion sometime next year. I'm thinking either a ZF, a T18, or a M50D. I'd like to be able to do about 70 on the highway without my foot through the floorboard.

But first....I gotta rebuild the carb, get the motor running right, replace the radius arm donuts and other various rubber components, replace the ball joints....

And learn to drive a standard. LOL
Did that haha, it held for a few months. Its leaking off of a line, so I'm hoping to replace that in the near future

When I first got my truck about 6 years ago, someone had done a motor swap and decided it was easier to cut the transmission cooling lines than unfasten them. They put them back together witha short piece of fuel line and hose clamps. It took me a couple of months to get around to............crap! One more thing on the "to do" list!

So my mom tells me that i must come home today after school to rake leaves.

I get home, and talk to my step dad and he says since i wasnt feeling good this morning that we werent going to rake them anymore. Okay, so i go to my room and chill for awhile and wait for my mom to come home.

She comes home and i talk to her for a bit, and then she whips out two cards. Me, very confused, open them up while i see her grabbing her camera. Inside there were two cards, one said happy early birthday, and the other said happy early christmas. Now very confused, my mom was grinnin like no other.

She then told me too fallow her out to the garage, and this is what i found.

Its a 14 ft v bottom jonboat with a 25 horse marnier motor. It also has a ( i wanna say 32? lb) trolling motor on back. Its electric start also!

Even though it was raining we took it out for a few quick runs today, and she ran great!! Shes fairly fast i must say too! More than plenty for me.

I have to ask, did you feel a little guilty about not raking the leaves after that?

I have not been on because my computer died.

running COD5 and one of my fans went out.

The vid card got so hot it shorted out and killed the power supply.

$325 latter I have a new vid card, cpu cooler and power supply.

The cpu cooler was a pita to install too.

Nice score FordNFishinLover. That's a nice rig. Big enough to take some rough water but small enough and light enough to run trotlines with. The motor is big enough to push you around at a good clip but not use insane amounts of fuel. Nice galvanized trailer. It's more than I've ever had and I've managed to catch tons of fish. Enjoy.

Not much, thinking how lucky this young man is to have a loving family. He needs to come down to La. and go gator hunting. I would even show him where there are some big catfish.

Oh yeah. My favorite. I have a 10' jonboat and a 2hp motor. When I get one 40 lbs. or better on a trotline, I have to bring it in straight over the bow or it will swamp the boat. I've had to make 2 trips across the lake before too, get about five 35lbs. and up, and it just makes that boat sit so low in the water that little bitty whitecaps become life threatening waves.

Well- started working on my intake today. I'm kinda pumped and wanted to do more, but I've got to play a party tonight. And I gotta go early as the host needs me to help him haul plywood to build the stage- I certainly hope he doesn't expect me to help build it as well!
Anyway- free food, drinks, and supposedly some unattached females attending- not as good as money- but I've done worse on a Friday night.Hopefully, they are the groupie type with a thing for for "has-been" lead guitar players. That would be MY early birthday and Christmas present! My B-day is the 22nd of December. Just curious- when is yours FordNFishinLover?

Gonna go get the carburetor bath today. Gonna try to have my carb rebuilt and ready to run by the middle of next week.

And Grant, I feel your pain, sorta....I've got a virus on my computer at the moment, and it's being a real pain. >_<
