i miss stosh.... this site has honestly lost my intrest with stosh gone... feels like alot of the expirenced people lost intrest before the whole stosh incident even came about. considering to quit posting and just read up on what i needed to know, but i'm not there yet... just really sick of the *******s
Here is an idea, The experienced people(stosh included) got there knowledge from where? There was never a computer to get all the advice from when these trucks were built. We learned from trying ourselves. We went and still go to junkyards and compare parts. We pick the brains of the junkyard owner, the machine shops, the ford parts guy, and just other enthusiasts at car shows.
That is the fun and excitement about these old trucks. Trial and error is the only real way to learn. Custom modifications are things that teach you to imagine. People always will be amazed by you, and will want to know how you can do so much if you just work with the only computer that ever came in these trucks...YOUR BRAIN.
I would never have had any interest in anything if I could just type on the computer and find all of the answers. The experienced people have not lost interest in helping others, they just think some effort on the person asking questions has to be made.
first today... Man, I'd rep ya 1,000x for that if I could (but it won't even let me
do it once for ya).
About all I will say here about Stosh is that I know how he felt, he had sent me
a PM about it quite a while ago (at least a year).
IMHO, what first today said is directly on target, and I'm glad to see somebody
else talk that way.
For those of you who haven't been on the Internet since before it went
commercial and was opened to the masses (1995) I will suggest you read some
things:
The first is written by Eric S. Raymond - something of an icon in the open-
source software world - about how to effectively ask a question on the
Internet. It's directed towards relatively hi-tech computer programmers/
hackers/users but the concepts still apply:
You don't have to be a net.god or guru/hacker/expert to feel this way.
He elaborates on my personal pet peeve about 1/3rd of the way into it, and it's
a good explanation as to why I will only rarely read (and virtually never reply
to) messages where abuse of the English language is the norm.
Next, do a google search on netiquette and read up some on what has
historically been considered correct, proper & appropriate use of the 'net.
Here's a link to to the official guidelines as published in RFC 1855:
Will one of those T19s fit behind a 302? They sure don't make trucks like these anymore.
And you're very welcome, maybe next year I can enter my truck in that contest. I'm HOPING to have that carb rebuilt and have it back on the road again by then....lol
EDIT: Kenny dies every time someone votes in the poll...
They will have a another late this month, I will get you a link when they put it up.
The T19 will go behind any motor ford had in the F/E series from 80 to 86. You just need the right bell housing.
I had a ****ty day. 2 cops came to my door and told me that because of having taken the battery out of my truck and put it on the ground well working on it , I had commited a feleny and they there for had to right to search. I have unregistered trucks, a gas can and some scrap aluminum, plus my registered truck that is down for a clutch job.
They said if it is not all gone in 30 days, They will put a warrant out for my arrest, for environmental felony's.
I checked and they do.
Texas has never been like this, but things are changing.
I am hauling the scrap, that is not a problem.
If they want my trucks, they will have to find them, I will park them at a friends house.
He has a lot of trees I can hide them in.
My guns and fords they will never get.
Was it on pavement? I'd have just said "whoops, I'm sorry" and sat the battery in the bed of the truck....lol
lol hide-a-truck, I like that. Get some green and tan paint and camo 'em, then they'll never find 'em! :P
But that's really sorry though. I can understand if the battery is leaking electrolyte everywhere, but then if it's in that bad of shape then you probably wouldn't be using it anyway....
I'm glad that my town doesn't do emissions testing when you go to get them inspected. My truck's about to need tags again and right now, it'd break the testing machine. lol
Sorry you had to put up with that, man. It ain't right at all.

I live in Williamson county, and the cops are *****.
It was on gravel, not pavement. I took it out when i was pulling the bell housing, because i had to take the starter off and did not want to get shocked. I had no idea it was a problem. I asked the cops why they were giving me **** about stuff I had been doing for years, and they said that there boss drives by my house every day, and had them go to my house to check for violations. they said all gas, battery's and oil drain pans have to be 3 feet of the ground.
I live out side city limits and have never had a problem before.
But gee, 3 feet off the ground. Why not 4? Would a foot more make it any safer, I wonder? lol
This stuff is so ridiculous. And then one must ask, why was it not considered an environmental felony to do all the stuff they did with the C4C vehicles? I saw a video on YouTube of a vehicle getting the C4C treatment, and it was leaking transmission fluid all over the pavement.
