The DT-466 is extremely common at tractor pulls.

Not to mention, when you crank up the fuel, mess with the injection pump timing, or with the electronic ones just change the tune, you get MASSIVE increases in power.

Is the DT-466 the new 6.7 Ford has been working on? Or, I wonder if it's 466 cu in and not standard in a Ford Super Duty.

The majority of the guys that do tractor pulls with their trucks don't even use PSDs. Cummins and Duramax diesels are the ones that dominate.

I was responding to another poster, not making a specific comment about the PSD, but rather the significance of using tractor pulls as an example of why a diesel is better than a gas engine. I guess my point was lost in translation.

I know, I was saying it tongue in cheek because I didn't really see how it was relative to the conversation about PSD/V10, except that I guess it could have been relative to tractor pulls...but I didn't know how that is relative to the PSD/V10 debate. I was trying to be funny, not real funny, just a little. I guess I wasn't.

See, it sort of went like this...someone posted that the V10 couldn't be that great because they didn't use them in tractor pulls. I wrote that some classes of tractor pulls mandate the use of diesel fuel, but I didn't see how using tractor pulls as an example of how to pick a Super Duty truck engine made sense. Then the next poster posted about the International. I was trying to point out again that it wasn't relative to a debate about PSD and V10s because the 466 cu inch International diesel isn't used in a Super Duty, but I don't think anyone got my vague somewhat rhetorical posts. Oh well. I guess to be more clear, to the first poster I was responding to...I don't think what someone uses in a tractor pull is relative to what makes a good Super Duty engine, I don't think it proves anything, even remotely. Also, I realize in some tractor pulls they use diesel engines, and it's actually part of the "class" of some tractor pulls. Also, the DT466 is an International diesel not offered in a Super Duty. It's a 466 cu inch diesel that would appear to be very good for what it's used for, but it isn't in a Super Duty so I don't know if it's relative to the PSD/V10 debate.

Edited to add: sorry for not being more clear

Thanks for the link though

So since Boeing jets can run on diesel fuel, you think 747's should be entered in tractor pull events?

You mentioned tractor pulls. The international DT-466 is a common engine run in international farm tractors, and is also quite common to find them in international tractors at tractor pulls. As for jet engines, I have seen them at tractor pulls too.

I had quoted the previous poster: "If the v-10 is so great and can out pull a PSD, why dont we see them taking the place of the PSD's in tractor pulls, etc?..." and was responding to his post.

Speaking of tractor pulls...oh, sorry must have nodded off there. I guess I must be the only one who thinks it's absolutely stupid to beat the hell out of a perfectly good machine, only to pull weight that has no real purpose or consequence other than it's own existence.

Its called entertainment much like racing, football, and the news for that matter lol.

Personally I like tractor pulls and demo derbys better than anything else. Lots of gassers out there too. I dont think youll see many v10s since there is so much more aftermarket support for a 460...
