I will beat the V-10 in pulling and in a drag race. Bring it on big-guy.

ART, is this enough to get the gassers going?

I didn't think this was a debate on V10 vs 7.3 IDI N/A, the thread says V10 vs PSD.

Then again it would be interesting to see what dumping $7k into a V10 would get you. So if you have the dyno result for a turbo charged V10 you could always post it.

I would drive another 6.0 instead of my present V10 if the damn thing would have been somewhat reliable.
But after bed plate leaks, 2 turbos, egr, injectors, headgaskets I'd had enough. To bad.

So, the 7.3L is better at getting rolling under load, but once you're rolling you're getting passed, right? Or, is the 1600 RPM good for getting the load going, and then you just keep going and going and there is not strength in having the peak power at a higher RPM.
Last time I checked my transmission had gears. You clearly don't understand what you're talking about.

your truck is not at all stock, my V10 is so you are right.
If I put that much cash into my V10 you would never out tow or out run it.

I will admit that the numbers dont lie and 'overall' the diesel is gonna outpull the V10. However just because the V10 peaks at that high of RPM doesnt mean it drops to nothing down low. I'd like to see some torque curves... I havent seen any lately but I'd amagine the V10 still haas a good percentage of power available down to ~2,000.

And for the money and extra complexity and such of the diesel I would hope it would be the strongest towing choice. But for most of us the V10 does nearly as good and has some other advantages to so it has a lot to do with specific applications and indivudal preference.

I found a dyno of a 2V V10. Shows stock rwhp is 211 and torque is 273.

Here is a link. You have to select the motor on the list.

The PSD and V10 both have transmissions. The post I was quoting wasn't referencing the transmission, or the differential gears, but RPM. I clearly understand not only what I was talking about, but what the poster that I was quoting was talking about. You understand I was referencing/quoting a specific post, right? By the way, I don't believe you've ever checked your transmission for gears. I just don't buy it. I believe it has them, but I don't believe you ever checked.

BTW, doesn't the "argument" that your truck's tranny has gears works both ways? Doesn't the V10 truck also have gears in the transmission which allows it to get a load moving, a lower 1st gear and higher "highway" gears? If the "argument" is the 7.3L truck has gears to keep the load rolling down the highway doesn't the same argument hold true for any other truck, that it also have gears (lower) to get the load moving?

PSD is way better

All I can say is if you really wanna know what the difference is go get
14,000 lbs of fifth wheel and go pull it up one of Colorado's 12,000
ft mountains and you will see what the difference is. I traded my v10 in for the 7.3 PSD and have never looked backed.

i dont really feel like reading through 20 pages of debate... yes id like a v10 but same ways lately with the flop in whos cheaper at the pumps ive been considering diesels..

now ive seen yall have the hp/tq debate already in the first 2 pages... and looks like its still continuing on this last one...

my question is... Ive ALWAYS!!! heard that with diesels short trips are hard on the engines... where with gassers theyre not.. or at least not as badly on the gassers as on the diesels.. im just wanting to know if its true...

like for instance.. if i were to drive.. say 5-10 miles down the road.. which engines being hurt more from a trip that short?

Even w/o forced induction, a diesel will always have the low end grunt a gas engine doesn't.

Garbage truck??? So what kinda engine is under the hood of the tow truck that comes to get you when you blow a spark plug out?? That's right, a DIESEL....
