Whats your opinion on running on cement in a very small area, VS using an elliptical machine. Thats my dilema right now, its too cold to go outside to run, and Ive read alot of info that says maybe I shouldnt be running inside doing lots of tight turns and whatnot, on cement.
Trying to improve my cardio, greatly!
That doesn't sound like it would work that well, are you talking running in your basement or something?
Do you have any facilities near you that you could run inside at...indoor track at a school or fitness club. Treadmill is you next best bet and will be a little more forgiving on the joints than concrete will.
heat wave here first day in forever its been above 25*
i think its about 30 right now so im gonna go shovel more of the pond and skate till well after dark... those Silverstar headlights are great at lighting up the ice after dark
Any chance you have a place to swim nearby? no impact full body cardio workout
Well.. sorta, see I live 20 minutes out of town, and Im TRYING to do all my working out at home. The hardest part in the winter is the cardio, since all we have is an elliptical, and its easy to get tired legs, but hard to get tired lungs on it.

Im not aware of any indoor tracks or anything like that, there is lots of gyms, but there again i was just trying to get everything done at home.
And yes, basically what I run in right now is a 26x30ish space in my basement. I do alot of figure 8's to keep from being bored, and I usually add some weight to make myself work a little harder.
I do slow jogging with ten lbs weights and mimick swimming, punching, all sorts of stuff like that to TRY to get moving different, and after a 2 hour workout i do sweat and my body is pretty sore (muscle sore) but I dont want to be doing any damage long term.

it's 44 º in the shade down here on the shore of the raritan bay Jim.
Speaking of cardio, anyone wanna come over and help me shovel my freaking driveway? 8 inches of snow and a day of it blowing around in 30 mph winds has turned my driveway into a giant snow drift.
You'd get more of a workout than you would shoveling snow...
I just decided...I'm not doin it. Not gonna do it. Nope. Not shoveling. Why? It'll all just blow back in anyway. I'll do it tomorrow once the wind calms down. The City of Cedar Rapids can come give me a ticket, but they have to get up my driveway first.
How did the Edmo nickname get started anyway? I don't remember...it is catchy though and it bothers Ed so that's a plus.

The dairy farm I used to work on was owned by 2 brothers. Ed and Jack. Everyone calls Jack Jackie so we'd call him slackie behind his back cause he'd always sit in the truck and yell at you what to do since he had bum knees (still does) cause he refuses to see a doctor. The other brother is Ed who has had a knee and a hip replaced and could outwork anyone I know including me even at 70+ years old. We'd call him Edmo whenever we were talking about him sometimes to his face he didn't care.
Well Ed started calling me Petey so I started calling him Edmo. And there is how the nickname got started.
