Good evening everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend. Mine was quite busy, took a while to read the 4+ pages since Saturday morning.
Looks like I'll have a little job coming up, but it doesn't pay anything.
I went up to my mom's Saturday to help her fix her car, and to visit with her and my sister, nephew and niece.
Removed and repaired the starter(had a broken wire that a little solder was able to fix), replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and still nothing. It would turn over but not fire. Ohm'd the coil, ignitor and pick up coil, everything checked out fine. Still nothing.
Looked at the repair manual, still couldn't figure it out. Finally after about an hour of messing with it, it hit me, DUH! Timing belt. Removed the cap and turned it over, sure enough, the rotor wasn't turning. Looks like I'll get familiar with a 1.6 Toyota engine soon. Probably end up removing the head to check all the valves too.
Before you remove the head on it,just put the T-belt on it,and spin the crank with a ratchet. If it binds up,then its hitting a valve. Was it running when she parked it? If it just broke when you was trying to start it,I don't think it would hurt anything.

It was running when the belt broke, just above an idle driving about 30mph. Car just died, wouldn't restart.
Sorry about this rant coming on but it really annoys me.
[Jacob rant mode on]The "combine" Lisa posted a pic of is actually a chopper( self propelled forage harvester if you want to get technical) I know not all of you have a farming background and I can't hold that against you it just annoys me a bit, sorry. The people who really **** me off about little details like that are the people who call a riding lawn mower a tractor.[Jacob rant mode off]
No problem with me man, I know its a forage harvester, I just dont care if someone calls it something else
We have alot of them up here for alfalfa.
You should see my garden tractor Shes got a snowblower, tiller, front blade, and a mower!
I don't think it would have hurt it,just put the new belt on,and before you put all the covers back on,spin the motor and see if anything inside binds up.

Howdy all. I just got back from a little PMS fix with Kris (strokin' it7.3), Donny (stroken) a couple other guys (not sure of FTE names) and Jason (HKUSP). It was really cool to finally meet a few people in person from the board!!
it was overcast with light rain for most of the day today but it was SO nice too!!
My dad's brother & his wife got to the house today too. He's the last of the 7 kids...
I just had a yummy PBJ sammich for late dinner... mmmmmm... tasty!! Hope everyone is having an awesome day!
Happy Bday (and recovery!!) Tristan!
Sound like you had a great meeting!

Yup week 3. I'm moving around pretty good now. There is some nerve pain that comes and goes. I'll be all set by the time you get your guages and exhaust.

Hey Scott we had a good day. She had a freind over for a while and they played outside almost all afternoon. We cooked some burgers on the grill for dinner. That was the first time that I have eaten red meat in quite a few weeks!

Thats good to hear. I bet she did have fun, plus the burgers made it better. I say the first bite you took you was like...mmmm oh my,then it was on lol

Sounds like an improvement from your pudding and salad.
I pulled a trailer on the road for the first time today. I've pulled all manner of trailers around our farm, but never more than a few hundred feet on the road before.
I towed our 16' open trailer with our DRW, service body 6.uhoh. We brought the wood splitter and a few pallets to stack the split wood on home. Then we loaded up branches I'd cut off and took them to be ground up.

The burger was good. I wanted more but I have to take it slow at first.

Yup I don't think that I'll be eating jello for a while. How did you do with the trailer? Where you comfortable?

It was a bit annoying because it was so light that it was slapping around in the hitch. It was really no different than normal driving aside from taking corners wide, backing up different, and hearing large sounds of steel against steel when the trailer hits a pothole.
I would've preferred a bit more weight on the trailer. Ie: Skidsteer
Except that would've involved more chains and such. Plus dad broke one of the trailer's stake pockets because he doesn't pay attention and he wasn't used to the skid being properly tied down. He tried backing the skid off the trailer with a chain still over the rotary mower that was on it.
