Part VI
Thats a nice skidsteer pete, whats the lift capacity of it? Im not familiar with the cat brand.
just got back from a Robotics event. Was over on Forddieselpower and I saw this and I thought you guys would get a kick out of this add
2006 FORD F350 4x4 CREW CAB A REAL MANS TRUCK
Any pics from the event? When I worked for Titleist I enjoyed working on the robots.
One Deere piece. A 490E.
The majority of our equipment is, unfortunately, Dresser.
4 Dresser machines. 2 530 loaders (3 yard loaders) a TD25G (73,000 lb dozer. Approx D8 equivalent) and a TD7H (D3 or D4 equivalent)
CAT is my preferred brand. Deere is a close second. If we're talking excavators then Hitachi and Deere are tied since they're the same. Maybe Hitachi would be a hair above Deere for the better fuel economy.
Nick: That is absolutely hillarious. That guy has WAY too much free time on his hands though.
Biggest machines we need are in the 70,000-80,000lb range.
We're working on trying to save up for a D6 in the future. It'll be like $125,000 for an 04 or 05 with 3,000 hours on it. We want one with a 6 way blade since it is easier to achieve a final grade with a 6 way than with a semi-U.
We're trying to get a job hauling material from the dredging of a town reservoir. If all goes as planned it could be a 1,000,000$ job.
I've got dad convinced that if we get it we will need to lease a new D6LGP since the material will be wet and sloppy.
Here's the kitty.

Good luck getting the job.You will need the wide tracks for sure.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

Actually we have our own lowbed, but for moving that specific dozer we hire it out. It requires permits and a heavier trailer than we own plus escorts to move a machine that size.
We escort the truck ourselves in order to save on some cash instead of hiring an escort service, but we hire a truck for moving it. It's really cheaper to do it that way considering how little we move it.
Last time it was moved the hauler got a visit from the DOT inspector. He ended up with like 700$ in fines before he was let go.
I actually want to build a couple units for our trucks to make fitting them up as escort vehicles easier.
I want to get some square stock that will slide into the receiver on the trucks and then come out and up so we can bolt on oversized load signs and put in some strobies and extra stop/turn/tails. That way we only have to tie cloth signs to the front bumper and put those in and we're good to go. For powering it all I could just use the trailer plug.
lol Just messing with ya!!

Dad has a tendency to back into things and rip things off the machine. If her operated it often it'd have broken windows and the aux. hyd valves would be bent up and it'd be all sorts of nasty.
Fortunately me and bubba (that's what we call our employee from Georgia) are the only ones who really ever operate it. And I had to have a chat with him about how we do NOT smoke in that machine. EVER. I wanted to turn the A/C on today (it was hot! it got up to like 65!) and I couldn't keep it on with the windows shut because it smelled like that crap.
I did get a chance to power wash that machine recently though. I need to spend some more time getting the oxidation and old grease off it though.
I've thought of joining the IUOE and running some big iron. Now is a bad time to get in, but things always move in a cycle. In a while we'll be seeing an increase in construction again.
Plus as the baby boomers retire there aren't enough qualified young guys to take the place of the old guys who will be retiring.

That's awesome that you have all of that cool equipment to use any time!
