Sure Ray, but a tornado can hit you about anywhere. The way I see it, get out if it's a 4 or 5, no question. 3s are iffy, in my book. I've been through weak 3s, but not a strong 3. I think I'd leave if it's 130ish. I've been through 115-120 sustained.
BTW, I'm pretty sure you can get hurricane force winds on top of a mountain, given the right conditions...
I realize tornados can be anywhere but they are known to be in the outer bands of a huricane
I have seen abot 70 mph winds at my other house but were no hours of sustained winds
I was not here for wilma but got here 2 days after for the clean up which was not fun and was strange to see a row of houses that were untouched and a row bhind them with only foundations left
I have live in South fla off and on for 53 years and have seen enough storms to last the rest of my life
near a beach with a mountain in the background for the skiers, Jacob and Lisa will farm, Scott and I will cook, Joe has the I.T., Danny is in charge of security, Brent is the lead contractor, Mark(since he won the Powerball, is cheif Financial occifer, Jims got the electrical, Jeremys in charge of lubricants, Scott is also in charge of the Fab shop, Ill also be in charge of beer procurement (Mark im gonna need a pretty big budget for this).
Oh Yeah, Rick can be in charge of feed procurement for the livestock, and JD can be in charge of asphalt for the 1/4 mile dragway, Chris is in charge of the doghnuts, and Cris is in charge of Cap'n and Coke rations. Jason(HkUSP) is our chiropractor, and Mike (tenn) is our head of police (basically he runs the radar at the end of the dragstrip)
Additions?
I'm good for this, just need to know what state to renew my general license in.
wow, you guys notice we are into 3 digits on the ot? bout time for Scott to cut us off and start a new one. I thought he said he wanted to limit it to like 30 or so...
Here's hurricane Erin hitting my place directly back in '95.
It was a good one, but only a Cat 1. But it is strange how these storms can tear some houses apart, and leave others seemingly untouched. It was like that down in Terrytown & Belle Chasse (suburbs of New Orleans) where I was after Katrina.
Hey now. I have no intentions of doing that, at least not until I'm over 1000 HP.[/quote]
If anybody can get a 1000hp you can

We'll all have PSDs -- we'll just pull fivers up out of the way when a big storm comes. I don't go unless it's a 4 or 5. Been through up to cat 3s, and only lost a couple asphalt shingles...
It's not bad in southeast mo. in the winter only a few days below 0.

ANY day below zero is too many!! Heck, I'm only in North Texas, and I'm hating the winters. No days below zero here, at least since I've been here. And I'm actually thinking any days below 60 are too many...

I am hoping to retire to warm weather someday,I hate cold weather.let it snow so the kids can play, then it can go away.

I with ya Joe, I dont do below 0.
come to think of it, I dont do below 32 very well either(at least not sustained) I can take a cool morning, and a cool evening, but it HAS to warm up during the day.
the coldest I've worked in was -20 below, and all I did was go from truck to truck trying to keep the air system thawed out.that was when I worked in a quarry along the mississippi river.
Once it gets below 0 it feels the same...Cold. I just finished a tour in Alaska. The worst thing I noticed about the cold is my PSD. They hate the cold. Other than that I came to enjoy the weather. I am from north Texas so the cold was new to me. I already miss it.
