The other grandpa of mine died when I was 10. The thing I remember about him most is watching wrestling on tv with him. Whoever i would cheer for, he would cheer for the other guy to get me going!
He was right from russia too, he had quite the life growing up and escaping russia.
I met my mom's mother, and she passed when I was 22. The rest were gone before I was born. Definitely enjoy having your grandparents and even your parents around. Mine still are, but my Dad woke up Christmas morning when he was 18 and his father had died in the night. 17 years later at 35, his mother passed on Christmas Eve. That holiday is always bittersweet for him. Never assume they'll be there.
My mom's dad died when I was just a baby. He was a rocket scientist and worked for NASA for many years. Somehow, I possess some photographs of his - original satellite photos of Jupiter and some of it's moons, some pictures of Mars too I think. Probably worth a fortune. I should see if I can remember where I put those...
My grandma got remarried to a guy named Larry, he was the one I call grandpa. He is still kickin but in failing health. I remember riding my Big Wheel in the driveway and he'd tell me "Oh kiddo you're goin 108!" (it was always 108, not slower, not faster, 108 - and every cat was named snowball, didn't matter what color it was). He has some facinating stories too, had a very hard life. Ran away when he was 13 or 14, drove his Dad's Model T up over Loveland Pass. Some cool stuff. My mom's mother is still alive also.
My dad's father died when I was 12. He was a WWII vet Marine and survivor of some pretty horrific battles, mainly in Siam. He was very very German, as was my grandmother, who died just a few years ago. She was a farmer's daughter, tough lady. Smoked like a burning tire. Made some great food..the best whas her rhubarb strawberry pie.
Being a grandparent is not the same as being a parent - it's MUCH better.
Dan I couldn't agree more, I am 43, wife 44 and we each have two daughters. Her youngest has a 3yo and my oldest has a 5mo. The best part was a 4 generation picture at the family reunion last year.
LOL. One of our managers, good 'ol boy (from Texas, figures!) has been pranking all of the women in the office all morning.
He has a mouse on a string, and he's been calling them all into his office and as soon as they come around the corner he pulls that mouse out across the floor and scares the crap out of them. Every single one of them screams, stomps, and runs away.
I'm just across the isle so I've been watching this go on all morning.

Spiders are a good one too. Especially furry ones.... oh yeah, had some fun with that!!
I was lucky enough to know my great grand parents on my dads side, greatpa was 97 when he passed greatma was 92 they talked about hard work and good times.they allways kepted two draft horses,he said incase the tractor rand out of fuel,he could use them.
One grandmother died when I was 1 the rest were the best grandparents a kid could ask for.
I watched a show one time (on TLC I think) all about repo guys. The guy they followed around actually did get shot at a couple of times.
Gotta be right up there in the dangerous job category. Nothing more dangerous than a desperate person who things you're the enemy.
One of those repo shows aren't even REAL! I was watching one and thought it looked a little fishy, then I saw the fine print (either in the beginning or end, can't remember) "Based on actual events". I never watched it again. The last one I watched was a boat and truck getting repo'ed, and the girl (model quality) comes out in her bikini. It didn't seem real, and that little line I caught sealed it...
