i picked this up in new york its from utah i believe
Looks like you got a good base to work with....some body stuff here and there (like the leading edge of the cab roof...that can bite you if left long enough), but overall very straight. Looks like you got a straight, original grille shell, and as most folks here will testify to, those are getting to be hard to find. I'm not a monster fan of the racetrack trim, but it does work well with a two-tone paintjob. I like the color layout....classic. Now you gotta let us know what the plans are for the future of this beastie!

i like the original paint some of the brown has been touched up and the bottoms of the door jamb but overall i like the ruff look of the old paint, what exactly is the race trim? it seems like the trim acts as a brush guard for offroad use is what i was thinking

The 'racetrack' trim I was referring to, is the thin piece of trim that goes from the front main beltline trim piece that mounts in the 'dent' of our dentsides, and it follows the perimeter of the bottom of the vehicle and goes over each wheel well, and comes back up to the rear of that same long straight trim line.......thus, completing a sort of racetrack. Some trucks came with that, and some had just the main straight trim along the side, depending on model. I mentioned it, as I believe two-tone paintjobs to look better when the truck has the racetrack trim. Trucks like mine with only the straight beltline trim, seem to appear better in a single color, IMO. As for any of the trim acting like brushguards, I think you're giving it way more credit than it deserves. The trim on these trucks was mostly anodized aluminum, and it doesn't take a beating very well.
I've spent the last three days reading all 58 pages. ALot of really nice trucks. I also like seeing the other ones also. Dont feel so bad about my wifes ride.
In the middle of installing highboy front springs.....
Hello somethingclever. Are the HB springs a straight swap in or is there hanger mods that need to be done?
What about the front driveshaft? Stock lenthor need to make longer? Complete front pack or select few?

THe only issue is HB uses 9/16" front bolt in front spring where-as 78-79 uses 5/8" bolt.
I changed out the front bushings to RB151 which is 1/8" too long. I removed the excess from each end down to 3 3/8" and installed them in the new springs.
The lift was only 1.5" over stock so no issues with driveline.

We have a 79 F150 4x4 Super Cab with a health 400, 33s, C6. Would the HB springs net we more than 1.5" of lift?
Also, the bushings you referenced, did you shave off from the inner part of the bushing, the part that goes in the spring eye, OR from the outer part that goes between the spring eye and the frame bracket to make it shorter?
If I can figure out how to post a pic of my ride, I will. I have never posted a picture on the web before.
Well decide to freshen up the 75 390 while its easier. Ordered new Manifold, Hei Ignition, Carburetor, still researching Cam(suggestions on a usable daily/tower/ toy all around in other words?) Also, anyone done the Sagniaw canned ham to 390 baracketry swap? Pics and P# would be cool.
It's decided, it's coming out!!!!!!!
