On the way to the airport back in June for a 3-week vacation in England - bed full of three suitcases, two spare child car seats, carry on bags, etc. Five in the cab - kids in back, my wife, me and mother-in-law (who drove us to the airport and back).
Dang that seems like a lot of articulation for one if these trucks..
i put a 4” Superlift spring pack on, front and rear. It’s a VERY soft suspension, but it’s a 4x4 trail rig, it’s not a hauler.
I’m thinking of moving up to a 6” lift, but I’m going to have to put on a quick connect sway bar. The lift offers a great deal of articulation, but also a lot of body roll.
What's up everyone! I'm late to the game, if we're talking about having and restoring a classic, but here I am! I've always wanted to have my own classic Ford to work on and bring back to life, but never had the time or money. My wife and 2 kids just moved to Phoenix, AZ from Alabama days before my 30 birthday. I sold my vehicle before we moved and was just going to buy a little beater truck to get around in when we got here. But, then I came across this gem! A 1978 F-250 Custom Extended Cab with the 460 7.5L under the hood with only 150,000 miles! Body and interior in great condition. It was priced at $3500. I was awestruck! Didn't think my wife would go for it because of our budget, but as a surprise for my 30 birthday, the old lady (the truck not my wife) is mine for $2700. I'm excited to finally have my own project truck! And with my son about to turn 5, it's something I can use and teach him to work on and love. The only thing is it's fueled by propane... That's not something we are accustomed to in the South, but seems to be very legit out West. I look forward to this journey, and everyone's inputs, suggestions, and advice!
We are going another route with this 63 in form of a full pro-touring style. Its a shortbed the tire is just sitting there as a mock up. The bed is getting shortened and chopped to be a shortbed size.
very cool. I have a 50s utility box we are going to throw on an F250 4x4 chassis snd were going to do as dentside cab, but have decided on a 61-66 F100 instead. Love pepe are keeping the utility beds alive.

Thanks man. Honestly wasn't fond of it when I first got it. Kinda grown on me. But if I could find a matching bed with duel fuel doors I'd honestly switch in a heartbeat.

Reason: Big thumbs tiny buttons
In our area longbeds are literally given away. Took us 3 yrs to find a shortbed fleetside bed for the 63. It was a gardening trailer, but revealed same exact color as our cab with only medium body work required not in including the mods we are makjng.
What We are working with now
This was the night in Feb. We took it out if the barn for the 1st time in 25yrs since I drove it home and parked it there. With its stepside.
1978 F150 351M 4x4. It's been my dad's since 1991. I learned how to drive on this truck. Dad bought it to haul building supplies to the U.P. of Michigan to build our cabin. Dad did a lot of work on it back when he got it. New box, cab corners, and floor pans. Just had the engine rebuilt bored .30 over and was painted about a two years ago. I think its only been out of the garage a half dozen times in the last 18yrs My dad finalyl gave in and told me I could come home to MI and get it this weekend. I'm super excited to work on it with him again. We have a little work ahead of us. Need to run some fuel lines, reinstall the interior, and get some exhaust on it. Looking forward to driving back down to NC. I can't wait to get my boys out for rides with me. I'm enjoying looking through this thread to get some ideas to make this truck mine.

This 76 supercab got saved! A buddy of mine told me he had a 76 available for body and other parts for my 76. He bought it for the motor only. So I agreed to buy it sight unseen. Then after picking it up I knew I couldn't scrap it after parting it out. I was thinking of using it for parts and putting some old parts back on it and finding someone who wanted a project.
Then my wife saw it and said no! You can't part this out! And we agreed to save it and make a Farm Rodder out of it. After my 76 F350 is restored we are gonna start on this one for our son.
