Hi, i'm new user on this forum, i own a 1975 F250 4X4 Crew Cab, 390 4 speed, with big axles (closed knuckles) long bed 62K miles. The truck has never seen road since 1993, but i put license on this week end. Frame off restoration from fall 1984 to 1989 (By lost time) I'm not sure if i keep it in original condition or if i jack it next winter. I have few month to mind it!

Anyboby in Arizona, or anywhere else for that matter, having problems with the AC keeping up? I have a 1977 f-250 crew cab that is black (One problem causing the AC to fall behind) and tha Ac just wont cool the whole cab. It seems like it's working fine and an AC guy told me that it works better that most of the same style. Anyone have any suggestions? My kids are baking in the back.

How did you do a roll on paint job? It looks good. I may need to try this on mine.

I think it's more commonly known as the "$50 Rustoleum paint job".

Paint is off the shelf from Lowes, I picked up 3 royal blues and 1 black all gloss.

We mixed it to get that blue there.

I sanded the whole truck, spray bombed the primer.

When I bought the paint, I bought cheap thinner, 4" styrofoam rollers, and some cheap little paint trays. If you got to Lowes, get the "high density foam" rollers. I think they say for cabinets and doors or something on the label.

After I got the color mixed the way I wanted, I thinned it down maybe 10%.

I wanted as thin as I could without runs, I'm no painter for sure.

Then I would tack it down, and roll it out.

Only sanding done was brief wet sanding on runs or sags, and I didn't get too many.

I first read it here, the 6th or 7th post down, dude did a charger and bug.

I've got 4 coats on it, one wetsand at 3rd coat.

moparts: paint job on a budget!?

Have you considered painting the roof white? I've seen lots of school buses done that way and always thought it was to keep the heat levels down.

Maybe some added fans somehow too?

I already figured on tinted windows seeing as when I lived in Tucson, everyone had dark windows.

That's because I couldn't make it this weekend...

Next time if you are there and they (rear doors) still are - pull them and I'll pay you for them plus a little for your time. PM me if you want to discuss.

Otherwise I hope to get there this coming weekend.

Bummer that the door I need is just as bad as the one on my truck though

I want to know what year that thing is? Can you tell me if its a 74 or earlier? If so, can you take the vin off the door and let me know how much you want for it.

I have a twin to your 75, except it is a short bed. I have a 75 as well. It was originally used on the Alaskan pipe line. It was sold 2 years later with a '68 390 in it to one of the works. The 300-6 had a ton of hours and was replaced. He had it painted dark brown. My parent bought it from him in 78 with about 20K miles on it. I was young at the time and thought it was cool when we were looking at it. My parents used it primarily to pull our goose neck horse trailer. It did not get driven much. My brother smashed the grill and punctured the radiator in 86 and it sat until my dad replaced the bent bits in 94 with a 79 grill. It was rustfree and very solid.

Fast forward to 2010, and I see it on craigslist for sale, so I bought it. It has lived a relatively hard life since. The box was never great when my parents bought it... banged it from working on the pipeline. But now it is completely shot. The once perfect cab has rust as do the doors. It has been lifted about 6 inches and the closed knuckle Dana 60 front has been replaced with a Dana 44.

I have been collecting parts, and have quite a few of them replaced with rust free parts. I am slowly working on it, also a '78 FJ40 Land Cruiser and a '68 Airstream... in addition to some home remodeling due to our second child being due in October.

I will be interested to see what you do with your '75. Glad to see your post.
