What is the elavtion where you run the 1/8th? I have always run in the low 8's in the 1/8/ The track we run at is 4600 feet and the track in denver has to be over 6000 feet. Just to get an idea of what the difference is. Our air is pretty thin.

By the way both trucks look great.

Pictures of power coated intake and valve covers that we did last weekend.

Started engine assembly on saturday. Everything went well until the pistons were put on the rods backwards leaving the valve reliefs in the wrong place. Took the spirolocks off and switched them around. COntinued on until it was time to put the oil pan on. it doesn't fit anymore since we are running a stud girdle and a windage tray. Spent most of today modifying it to fit.

Lucky you are using floating pistons. The Machinist i trusted to press my pistons and rods together pressed the pistons on backwards. Pressing them off crushed the skirts of the pistons a little bit. Thats why i am now running a $500 junkyard engine.

What did you have to do to the oil pan to get it to fit?

Heads look nice.

Got a quick video of the dodge now on youtube from yesterday. Tomorrow im going to get the steel i will need to build my trans crossmember, driveshaft loop, and lift bars. Hopefully tomorrow by 3PM ill be out on the street in it..

The dodge sounds good. Hope the road test goes good. take the camera with you and get a video for us.

The whole deal with the pistons was a PITA. what I found weird was that only 6 of the pistons were wrong and not all 8.

We bought a canton girdle and a windage tray with a guarantee that they would fit with a stock pan. Called the guy on saturday and he said that they would only fit with a front sump oil pump. the front sump is kinda backwards for hard launches since all the oil wants to go to the back. So we had to cut down the riveted mount for the rear sump dipstick and weld in a patch piece that cleared the girdle. Also last year when the rod broke and rattled around causing all sorts of hell the pan got all spread out and the rails got knocked down about a 1/4 inch. Cant afford a new pan so we had to make do with the old one. finally got it fitted today about 3 but I had to head back home for the weekend. Ordering a pushrod length checking tool to see what we need and the rest should be pretty easy.

A few pictures of the sleeper two tone f100.

WE also put on our sponsors decals and a bunch on the rear of the box to cover up where the box fell off the saw horses and smashed into the engine hoist.

Will defiantly have a video with me or of me on the first road test.

Nice work with the oil pan. I know oil pans can be a royal PITA after an engine comes apart. Thankfully all of the engines i have had come apart destroyed everything on my engines except for the intake, carb, and headers (even the brand new aluminum heads and nicee milodon oil pans)

Whats the 2 tone f-100 run and whats all done to the engine?

Ya we had to do some welding and hammering to the pan to get into shape. Wish they made a cool racing pan for 1979 f100's with a rear sump but I have yet to find one.

The two tone ran mid 14's last year and smoked like a train since all the valve seals were as hard as diamonds. Brand new 472 with ported Dove-C's and dome pistons this year. Should be about 13:1. also has a hughes transmission with a pretty healthy converter. It belongs to a friend that just started racing a few years ago. We borrowed his shop to do the engine and tranny since our garage door leaks so much air and he has a car lift.

I believe Mildon makes a large capacity, rear sump pan for a big block. I don't recall the part number but could walk into the garage and take some measurements if you wish. It is on my 528 that is currently sitting on a roll-around craddle.

Milodon oil pan for 429/460 1979 f-100 2wd and 4wd trucks. Rear sump.

Might want to take a look at this one and see if it will work.

Pan $305.95

Pickup assy. $81.95

Oil pump $36.95

Spectre Industries also make an OEM rear sump pan that sells for just under $90. But its out of stock until half way thru MArch, and its a 5qt pan, not too sure how it would (or wouldnt) work with your windage tray.

That pan might work. The only part that worries me is the 3.85 stroke with OE rod. we are running a 4.14 stoke with 6.8 rod. It looks deeper than the stock pan so it SHOULD work.

I thought this was kinda funny. You forgot about Milodon but the guy in your other post torquing the rods is wearing a Milodon t-shirt. LOL! Not making fun of you, just saw it to be kinda comical. HaHa!
