A ring compressor would be great lol...Its funny because i have halped a few friends build engines and even though it is the first engine they have put together they have a ring compressor.. I still dont have one..
Have a photo of the 60's wall paper? Im looking for something to do the rear package tray of the dodge in..Figure paper is lighter than carpet which is important in a 3800 pound car
All i can say is i hope your first road test is alot better than mine was. I found a couple other problems with the car thanks to the drive over to my friends shop. My timing was about 8-9 degrees retarded (great for power) and the front tires were rubbing on the tie rod ends.. so ill have to swap over to either a narrower front wheel or to the slot mags i have and see if they will clear or not. I could feel something rubbing on the ride over here but it wasnt until yesterday when i was dropping the trans out that i noticed the rub marks on the sidewalls.
It was pretty funny...As soon as my friend and i confirmed the 454 was seized up he mentioned to me that he had his 472? 476? BBF and i asked him at the same time if he knew where any Ford front sub frames were at... Maybe after 1-2 more 454's get eaten up ill look at throwing a ford drivetrain in it.
What kind of HP and TQ does your engine builder think your BBF will put out NA and with some spray?
The ring compressors our friend has were $11 each so he bought 8. not sure 8 are needed but he goes a bit overboard sometimes.
There were 7 rooms papered with 8 different paper patterns, all of which had to go. I can get some pics tomorrow but I locked the keys in the house so I have to break into our new house that we don't even live in yet.
Could you run wheel spacers to eleviate the tie rod rubbing or is that a NHRA no-no?
We are hoping for 650 horse on the throttle and maybe 750-800 on the bottle if I can ever afford to buy a plate system. I want to buy one of the plates that I saw over at 460ford.com. But i have resorted to using credit cards that aren't mine to buy for needed parts so NOS has to wait a while.

Hahahaha, the first 3 weeks my old roomate and i lived in our old apartment we went to the office about 15 times to borrow their key because we kept leaving ours somewhere.. finally on the 16th time they had a stack of 5 keys for us!
Im going to try another set of front wheels first, if they dont work then some small spacers will be on in the front, they arent drive wheels..Alot of people run the sandwich type spacers in the rears of their cars.. i am going to try a set that bolts to the axles and then bolts to the wheels in the back...
I have a plate system with just the plate, solenoids and hard lines from the solenoids to the plate.... It has a bottle but i like having a few bottles around incase one goes out of spec i can have it tested while still having the other bottle..
OK I know this site is for Ford trucks but we are all gearheads here right? So how about putting some pics of this car in your gallery and a few details about it. I dig the look of the car just want to see more of it. By the way not that my opinion counts for much but BBF in the car man that just make it all the better.

Im trying to find a place that does free web hosting right now to throw a page up that is loaded with photos and information about the car. I might try geocities i dont even know if yahoo even still has that option lol..
DroppedF100, I like the photo of your truck pulling both the front wheels... Is that with N2O right off the line?
Ya thats a 200 shot right on the line. One of the few times that it hooked. It got a best of 1.55 60ft with the old motor on spray. The new motor got a 1.61 just on motor so it should of flew on the bottle.
I knew that sbc had press on oil pump pick-ups because my friends fell off but I had no idea bbc had them too. That is a poor design indeed.

I sent you an e-mail or PM or something but here is the link too
Thanks Tank. I had the computer problems i told you about in my e-mail, but i found some commands to take control of my internet explorer again... As we speak i am loading all of my photos over to my shutterfly account. Most of the photos are not so great, but still photos none the less.
When i get everything added and organized i will post a link..

With a 200 shot off the line i can see why you have problems getting traction off the line!!
My 60' times in my 250 were in the 1.9's.. decent for 5800 pounds lol.. The first 330' is the most fun anyways..
1.6 60 foot times off the bottle would be fun..One of my friends has a 31 model a coupe and he pulls 1.3 60 foot times.. it is a blast.
Stopped at Alston's Chassisworks in Sacramento last week and traded the messed up 9" back brace for battery boxes and got those installed today. Also worked on getting the fuel cell situated. The big problem this weekend were the heads. We ordered new pushrods which came in while we were at Famoso and they hit on the bore in the head when in the lifter. It is almost like the heads are not designed for the block as the lifters need to be shifted over in the galley about 1/2" Just about par for the course I guess. Calling the head guy tomorrow to get this straightened out.

You guys will get it straightened out.. Have fun with your fuel system lol, i spent over $500 on mine and already had alot of the parts i needed. Hopefully its something simple with the push rods, cant think of anything simple it would be, but you never know...
The dodge has been fun since i got it back together with the spare crank.. Im surprised its working but it seems to be doing okay so far. I have a WOT fuel problem causing a surging / sporatic miss and will have to wait for more snow to melt off before hammering it out.

Talked to a few guys on 460ford.com and they say that a hydraulic roller setup in a 385 series ford is not a drop in setup. The longer roller lifter causes a shorter pushrod which compunds the angle on the pushrod that causes the rubbing on the pushrod bore. Sounds like we need to do a little clearancing and then cut the guideplates and re-align them to get the roller tip of the rocker re-centered on the valve stem. Sounds like a lot of work that wasn't planned for.
Glad to hear the dodge is running well again. Still hoping to make test and tune day at Bandimere.

Reason: I spell like a 3rd grader
We already have all the roller stuff plus the correct length push rods that just showed up. The way I see it is that we either, 1) fix the heads and guide plates for very little money and a lot of time or, 2) buy new lifters and push rods for lots of money and very little time.
Had to finish a few other things around the house so I didn;t get anything done on saturday.
This morning we finished mounting and plumbing the fuel cell with 8AN braided line. Also ground on the heads to get the push rods to fit. Pretty easy to figure and we opted for not removing the heads. Just used some grease, a hand file and a vacuum to keep things clean. Just need to bolt the intake down and put it back in.
