and by the way do you own a 2008 F-SUPER DUTY or like most of the people here defending or bashing a truck that they do not own because I DO AND THAT GIVES ME THE RIGHT TO COMMENT BECAUSE I AM HAVING TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES.
do you work for ford?

Yes I own a 2008 SRW F-350 6.4 3.73 limited slip. Posted pics of it a few days ago and no I don't work for Ford.

Looked into changing Gears on my V10 350drw 3.73 6 years ago and it was going to be over $3000 for both axles. I was pulling 13,000# and the truck was rated for 10,000#. Had a 5 speed stick. On the bigger hills would be in 3'rd gear at 3700rpms. most of the time would floor it and let off some averaged 7.5 to 8.5 towing with the V10. Just had to use my head towing and use the gears right. No Idea what my new 450 will do. have just over 250 miles on it and it shows 13mpg so far. I sure expect it will have to work a lot less than my v10 did. Seems to me no matter what you have it takes so much fuel to haul extra weight and wind resistance depending how it is driven.

Boy! Strut you scared me, when I first looked at it I thought $605.79 from 3/25 to 4/10 thats about 16 days that would be a lot of driving. then I realized it was an update from previous. Still that's a lot of milage since you owned it. Glad you are enjoying it. looks like your milage is creeping up a little each fill.

Getting some miles on it before I hook up to the Creek!

6.4L F-SUPER DUTY
YOUR VEHICULE HAS BEEN EQUIPPED WITH A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM TEMPERATURE MONITOR THAT WILL FLASH THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT (SEE PAGE 13 OF YOUR OWNER GUIDE) AND LIMIT THE ENGINE POWER IF AN EXHAUST OVERHEAT CONDITION IS IDENTIFIED.THIS LIMITED ENGINE POWER WILL ALLOW THE FUNCTION OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING BUT WILL LIMIT VEHICULE ACCELERATION. IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES, PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND CONTACT YOUR AUTHORISED DEALER.
DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY OF THE OVER-TEMPERATURE CONDITION,THE VEHICULE MAY OR MAY NOT RESTART AFTER CYCLING THE IGNITION OFF. IF THE VEHICULE RESTARTS, THERE MAY BE LIMITED POWER OR THERE BE FULL FUNCTION. IF THE EXHAUST OVER-TEMPERATURE CONDITION REOCCURS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL AGAIN FLASH AND THE VEHICULE WILL AGAIN HAVE LIMITED POWER. AGAIN STOP THE VEHICULE AS SOON AS SAFELY POSSIBLE AND CONTACT YOUR AUTORIZED DEALER TO HAVE THE CONDITION REPAIRED. PLEASE KEEP THIS LETTER IN YOUR GLOVE BOX FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

I am sur you all got this in your mail with the recall letter that was sent by ford to all of us. I think this BS now you guys now why I am upset because everything is screwd up with this new tecknology, reliabilty, MPG, Power.
oh by the way pull to the side of the road with your 36 feet toyhauler call ford dealer for help on a weekend going to your vacation spot or coming back they will tell you the service dept. is closed call us on monday let me see you have giving us now 62k and you have to deal with this issue on your own.
by the way it is summer 100f to 115f outside temperature the kids are naging so is the CEO (wife) and you will wait for two tow trucks one for your truck and the other for your fiver and you have to pay for the segond towtruck because Ford won't cover the tow on your fiver and I am assuming you had no guests with because the tow truck can only carry two passengers beside the driver of the tow truck this is turning out to be a very nice weekend or vacation.
Reading this card made go what the hell is going on or going to happen to my truck that I bought just for the quality time I am going to spend with my family traveling with it. Do we have to start praying that we get there and back every time we start the engine, and by the way I do but it should not be because I am diving a 2008 ford.

There's a HUGE learning curve with the new emissions technology.

First of all, the situation described above will ONLY occur IF the post filter temp reaches a predetermined temperature. The required temp for soot burning is minimum 580 deg Celsius, that's 1076 deg F. The post filter temps during regen are very close to this. I don't know exactly what Ford considers high exhaust temp, but it has to be above typical system temps during regen. The reason they derate the engine is to take the heat source away from the DPF so it doesn't melt down and cause the flame thrower effect. A melt down could be and most likely will be caused by a catostrophic failure of the turbo(s) which will most likely send oil into the exhaust system. We all know oil will burn if the ignition source it hot enough. I can guarantee you the catalyst will be hot enough during regeneration. This is just a safe guard to protect you and the truck. Like I said, it will ONLY happen during the above described situation. I don't see the need to get all uptight about it.

Percy, I can't imagine being that close to home..................30 is as close as it gets, 100 is about the furthest. Work car is USUALLY my 02 Kia Sportage, but I just can't seem to wanna drive that anymore, regardless of the extra cost to drive to work.

Oh the Lie-O-Meter currently reads 13.3 on my 450.....I know it'll drop but honestly feel it'll continue to get better.
