my 2000 350 srw 4x4 got 15 in the city pulling trailer and 23 on the hwy empty the 6.0 couldnt get 15 going down hill in neutral. I find it hard to believe the 6.4 will be any better then the 6.0 the new toyota is being designed to get 20 plus in a 3/4 or 1 ton and have more power then the 6.4, we will see.
Just came back from a weekend camping trip, only 65 miles round trip, so I didn't figure it out by miles on the od v gallons pumped into the tank, but according to the computer, I got 9.1 MPG with mostly freeway miles at 60 MPH. CHP in San Diego likes to nail trailers going 62 on I-8 in East County.
Next weekend we are going on a 350 mile round trip to the Imperial Sand Dunes. I'll have to fillup twice on that trip, so I'll be able to tell you how it pulls going over the mountains from San Diego to the desert.
I hope it's not hot like this weekend. I don't have a generator yet.

Toyota's claimed HP will not help pull a 12K trailer up a hill like any diesel will. As far as your statement on the 6.0 I am averaging 17 mpg on the hwy and I have seen as much as 19.5. I only have 5800 miles on her also. 23 hwy and 15mpg in the city towing is pretty darn good. Your the one!!!!!
I have a 2004 6.0, F-350 Dually, 4X4 Crew, 4:10 and when new got around 15 to 15.5 MPG mixed city fwy. I once broke 16+ with mostly fwy driving. After 40,000 + I get the same. Plus I'm using a Superchips 1805 programmed in "economy" and get the same MPG. If I get on the gas llot and a lot of city driving it can go as low as 14.5 MPG. I would hope the 6.4 would do better. I have personaly talked to a few 7.3 PSD guy's and they get anywhere from 16 to 18 MPG!
When I put 4.10's in my 03 6.0 I lost about 2mpg. So I saw about the same MPG as you with your 4.10s. I don't think that the 6.4 will meet the 6.0 for fuel mileage and certainly wont see the #'s that the 7.3 sees. Emissions have always effected fuel mileage and will continue to do so....
doesn't have an overhead console! i didn't know they made them back in '97 but uh yeah i hand calculated it, now this is assuming the speed-o is right, oh and this is before i put the 34's on, cause as of now the speed-o is probably off by like 2 mph at 60
IDK I have heard people say that once they put 34's on it actually fixed the 2 mph slow speedo. Well I had to check about the Overhead console lol wasnt sure when they started them.
