Surely a gear ratio and another two tires cut the MPG's IN 1/2
That's what I meant.
I got 4.10's becuase of pulling ability in the mountains. When I hit that grade, I don't have to worry about slowing down or have my tranny hunt for the proper gear. I leave the cruise at 60 (California Highway Patrol starts pulling you over above that) and away I go. If I lived where it was flatter, I might have considered 3.73's.

at 60mph on a flat surface my computer shows 18 mpg at 65 It shows 12 mpg. Rural and some city driving I am averaging 14.3 computer and 13.4 hand calculated. If you add hills, more boost, stop, go and over 65 your milage is going to drop. If you are so concerned about fuel milage trade it in for a stick with 3.73's. Myself I think you are complaining a little too much about your decision that you made. Time to move on.
Exactly, hit the nail on the head. You must keep the RPM's at or below 2k for best fuel economy.

From what i see some people are willing to do what they have to get better milage and are willing to try some tips, boost below 10 Psi, RPMS below 2000,drive easy light to light, good tire pressure....... and so on and some don't.

If you want good milage you can't drive it like you stole it. I willing to throw this out there, i bet half the people crying about milage haven't givin any of the suggestions posted on here a good shot. Either your going to continue to cry or your going to take some type of action. Im not the first to say this but, IMO Driveing style has a serious impact on what kind of milage your going to get on these trucks.

of course habbits have a huge impact of economy, I personally will drive very easy for 2 complete tanks and try to use constant speeds on roads where I can, I still do not pick up any economy over driving normally. Seems like the longer you extend the shifts on this engine it uses the same if not a bit more fuel than getting up to speed at a normal rate. and then steady speeds from there. My personal economy concern is not habbits although I completely agree that some if not most others are partially at fault.
