I've got 700 miles on a 2008 F-450 6.4 with 4.88 and country road mileage is 12.5.
Got to say with the power this truck has I wish I would have gotten the 4.30 rear end.

That's 700 miles since you got the new truck......or 700 miles per tank?? And I can imagine about the gears. I am thinking 4.10's for my F350 CC DRW when I go to order it. But hey, can't complain about too much power. Better to have it than not.

I've put a total of 700 miles on it at this point...

Can someone tell us for sure what rpms the 6.4 runs at 65mph with 4.10's.
My 450 with 4.30s runs at 2100 rpms. 4.10s should be 2000 rpms at 65 mph? Magic number for fuel milage for my experience has been to run just under that 2000 rpm

Those numbers should be just about right. 3.73's at 65MPH is about 1700-1800RPM's, 4.30's is at about 2100RPM's. The 4.10's should be right around 2000RPM's. Yes, keeping the tach at or under that 2K mark, which would bring you to a cruising speed of about 60-65mph will give you the best fuel economy.
Did any one read the article in the new Diesel Power magazine that tested the 6.4 and the v10. They showed a hwy MPG over 19 and combined was in the 15-16 range. They had an extra cab with the 3.73 rear-end so these trucks should get near the 6.0 in MPG. Oh by the way it beat the v10 in every test situation (Duh) and it almost doubled it in fuel mileage....
Not that ......the statement I highlighted in bold
Got to say with the power this truck has
With the amount of power the truck has I could have gotten a different rear end gearing and saved a little MPG's...Truck has a ton of power..Is very strong.....I do not see the need for the 4.88 gearing for pulling 17K
Do not get me wrong..I like the power and it is a great truck....I went from a 2004 F-250 with the 6.0 and I have to say the ride is unreal compared to the 250...I would have thought it would be a real ruff ride...What a surprise..I can also hear the radio now!
