Terrible accident, yes F1 is drive by wire for throttles. IRC drive by wire throttle tech was pioneered in F1 (by Honda I think)
Apparently anti-stall engaged here, which opens the throttle to 50% (when slowing down, the driver typically puts the car in neutral... I am guessing her lack of familiarity with an F1 car meant that she hadn't)
I'm hoping to make it next year to the MotoGP races.

Just finished watching qualifying & race. Another tire management problem. No dry laps pre-race then Alonso having to finish the last few laps with worthless tires agian. I just bought tires and they certainly weren't Pirelli.....

Anyone think that the circuit is much shorter now than it used to be , I remember them going down past a forest , and was one of the longest tracks of the year...... But not now it seems they have cut the track in half
