Old news now....

The Hungarian Grand Prix got off to a false start after a blunder by Michael Schumacher on the grid.
The Mercedes driver pulled up in Heikki Kovalainen’s grid position ahead of the original start of the race, mistakenly lining up 19th instead of 17th.
This video shot by a fan shows Schumacher’s Mercedes on its correct starting position before the formation lap.
But when the field return to the grid for the start Schumacher, partly obscured by an advertising hoarding, pulled up behind the vacant space his car should have occupied.
This caused some confusion behind Schumacher, with other drivers not taking the correct positions on the grid as a result. Race director Charlie Whiting aborted the start of the race and sent the drivers around to form up again.
At this point Schumacher compounded his error by switching his engine off, meaning he had to start from the pit lane. “Our engine temperatures were very high before the start, and when the yellow lights came on, I switched the engine off,” he said.
Interesting perspective on what goes on at the back of the grid....

Thanks for the link! Enough good stuff to last well beyond the next 3 weeks till the next race. Great incite into areas of F1 I personally hadn't considered.

The battles over the greening of F1 continue, with Bernie Ecclestone again casting himself in the role of the roadblock.

He has really been expanding the site over the last year and it is starting to get very technical something I think F1 needs to get out to the fans...F1 fans seem to the most part like the technical side.

Another one a bit different

Yep.... There needs to be an "dedicated" F1 channel with programing to take up the slack. The archives they must have would be exciting to watch along with preventing "F1 withdrawals".

Well I decided I would start following F1 and have watched every qualifying, race, and almost every practice since Monaco. It's a very interesting sport for sure although I have had to google a few things just to understand what they are talking about.

Interesting.

Given 2012 (and 2011) has a much higher percentage than 2010 kinda nixes the argument that with the new tires that qualifying is no longer as relevant.

Right, but F1 has so many variables that it defies statistical analysis.

tick, tick, tick...

How many teams in other series have to redesign their exhaust systems every two weeks or so... ?

Or have to endure the overlords scrutinizing their engine mapping software from race to race?
