Mine is running at 515k, still pulls strong and just finished plowing snow, pushes around a Fisher 9' hd plow pretty easy, sometimes it does want for a little more horsepower but generally its perfectly happy! Engine bottom end is all original, pulled the engine to fix a bunch of leaking gaskets and check it out, compression was good all across, bearings were within std spec as was the crank and journals. New cam cover gasket, front/rear mains, oil pan gasket and such. Head had new chrome exhaust seats installed at 260k miles and it still runs so delightfully well. This summer I will have to change the frame, 20 years of plowing has dissolved all the metal and have had a couple minor frame breaks that I've patched and sectioned. I have another frame sourced.
Rust is the big problem with vehicles here in New England. With 246k on mine its the rust that will eventually cause my trucks retirement.
218,977 miles. I made 3 pulls on a dynojet chassis dyno this past Sunday and the engine still manages 129hp/242lbft through an E4OD. The torque started at 225 and didn't drop below 200 again until 3300rpm or so. I have a home-made CAI, and 2-into-1 exhaust. I also added a MSD6 but that shouldn't really count for much. The trans was rebuilt around 155K miles and I put in a recalibrated accumulator VB. Not bad considering that I've never babied it. I even autocrossed it for two seasons when I couldn't work the clutch in my Mustang due to knee surgery.
As my name implies, bought mine new and at 180,000.
First ten years....much highway miles. Last twenty years....light ranch duty...I consider it my tractor.
A good buddy of mine bought a '77 extended cab long box. We used to go pick up cars on a tandem axle trailer with it. 300 4 speed. All you had to do was bump the key and she sang. It never had a problem pulling in the hills of Iron County, MI. Last I knew, there was 414,000 on the old boy. And that was a few years ago. What an engine! I wish my '67 had the 300 or even 240, but I've got the FE. Nice torque!
Just bought a 96 F-150, $800. 310+K. Still really strong. A little tlc will shine'm up. Wife named him Milo. lol. Looking to do some overhauling but not sure where to start. I would like to see better performance out of him. The engine is completely stock.
I had a 79 with over 300,000 sold the engine 10 years ago after the roof rusted thru still running in a buddy's truck. My "New" Truck is a 92 with 215,000 on the clock 3.08 gear pulls a drag car 100 miles evry weekend avg. 15 mpg I plan on running it at least 10 more years.
As of December 2013, I got 532000 out of my 300, f150(1985).timing gear failed,so went ahead with a rebuild. On this post in 2004 I had 400,000 plus . After the engine was rebuilt, installed I did away with the carter carb (one barrel),installed the duraspark 2 system(ignition), Clifford intake , weber carb ,Clifford long tube headers, dual mufflers, magnaflow 3chamber,Rancho shocks .Wow what a difference this set up has made TR
