Original timing gears, original everything. The ONLY non original part on that truck is a mechanical oil gauge I "helped" put on the truck when I was 10! That was 10 years and 80K ago. I don't think you'd want to open the engine up anyway, with all the dirt caked in the engine bay. The truck was very well taken care of by the Prince William County VA municipality, which I guess explains why it's lasted that long. Grandpa and I try to take care of it now, with regular oil changes, plus he drives like a grandpa.
One more cool story: when we were getting my '96 on the road the 'ol red 93 came to the house and we "borrowed" a bunch of electrical stuff (relays, diodes) to get mine running!
Got a 1990 F150 that allegedly has 260k on it: the 300 still purrs like a kitten when its running, aside from a little rattle on cold startup, which disappears after about a second or two. Can't say the same for the M5-R2 in it though: apparently this is either the second or third in the trucks life and it may be on its way out :P
"...be on its way out."
no more mazdas! get: ZF, T5z or
auto (C4, C6 or if the right rear gear 4 OD an AOD/EAOD).
3 speed T85,6,7,9 may fit w/mods) ur rig is same as a SBF bell.
T18,19; NP 435.
Like any automotive Q it all depend on the application.(end use/80% of driving conditions)
So the 1st Q to ask is "What is the exact application?" The mazda is considered kinda weak.
"...the 'ol red 93..." still a 460ci (ina 4.9L / 300ci Thread)
Haha I'm not talking about the 1993 F-Super Duty in my signature, I'm talking about a 1993 F-150 XL that my grandpa drives on the farm. It does have the inline 6 and auto trans.
As for the F-Super, I was told by my boss that either I could fix/maintain it (on his dime) or he would sell it and get a newer F-450 or 550 chipper truck. So I kind of considered it to be "my truck" since I take care of it and drive it more than anyone else did. When I left the company that truck was almost at 230K, but there's no way I can see it getting past 300K, what with all the work it does and how no one but me seems to care for it.........

I can't say anything bad about the M5OD R2 transmission. The one in my 96 bronco with a 302 has been 100% flawlessly reliable and perfect for 234,000 miles so far. Still shifts like brand new.
"...the second or third in the truck..."
off rd models report difficulties the most
my suggestions stand
However, this is probably not the forum for deeper discussion
There are now 123,000 mi on my 1993 F-150 XLT 4X4 Super Cab. I have the 4.9 L 5-speed engine / transmission combination. I've driven an additional ~10,000 miles as of my last update at the end of 2014,
This is a fun thread. Since the last time I posed I'm about to roll over 195K in my 1996, unfortunately the farm truck is now DOA. Single cylinder misfire that won't go away with ignition or fuel injection parts...... May have lost compression. Truck has been parked for the better part of a year now. Made it to 490-something.
