miles on your 4.9
My '96 has 132K on it and I just replaced the original plugs and wires. I've had it since 92K, and I haven't turned a wrench (other than oil) on it yet. My uncle had 366K on his '83 when he sold it. Guy's got 400K on it now, and only uses it to pull a 3 horse trailer on weekends. That's the main reason I bought mine.
'90 I-6, 5 speed manual with 142,000. Just bought '97 F-150 about 4 months ago (needed the extened cab). But still have '90. Just can't let go of it, had it for 9 years.

My 1970 F250 300 I6 had 68,000 miles on it back in 1994. Guy who bought it new was a farmer and drove it on the farm and to the VFW. Only miles it seen. When he was to old to drive he parked it in the field with the cows. It sat there for five to seven years. Rust was begining to be a problem with it. I bought it back in 94 from the farmers son. It didnt run had no breaks shifter was broke had no tires on it. I got a friend of mine to help me get it home. I put under $200 in it and got the motor running. It had a few valves gone so I ran it on five cylinders for three years and did it ever put out the smog.
I put recycled oil from wifes and guys from work cars/trucks to keep it going changing filter now and then. After driving it for all most four years on five cylinders I decided to rebuild it. Or I mean have it rebuilt by someone who knows what there doing. I now have just over 70k miles on this truck with a rebuilt motor. I only drive it a mile or two a day to and from work so I dont put many miles on it myself. Once it hits close to 100k miles I might be to old to drive and have to park it in the field again.

i have an 89 with the 300 six and the 4 speed tranny it currently has 372,000 miles on it and was rebuilt at354,000 for the first time the motor looked like new inside and the machine shop said it only had minor wear and would have ran much longer befor it needed an overhaul
