The 82 I have (was dad's, passed it on to me) had 248,342.1 miles on it when it cracked the head. It still ran well, but used oil, and made some rather disturbing noises.
Rebuilt it, all the way and expect the same again.
Had a 85, traded it off on an Areostar for my wife. Truck had 174 K, no oil consumption to speak of, quiet and ran well. (the *star has 192+ on it now, no oil useage, runs like a top, had to replace the timing chain and oil pump at 190. Wish I could figure out how to make the tranny last though, shifts kinda shaky. )
My '86 Ford F-150 had 143,000 on it before it rolled over and died. A lot of headache and money later, I am rolling with 2500 miles on the new motor and I honestly don't think I will ever get rid of it until the chasis falls apart anyway. I'm guessing the reason that it rolled over and died on me is because a 16 year old kid got ahold of it before me and drove it till he was 20, he later admitted that he beat the **** out of it. But like I said, I am totally satisfied with the rebuild and the motor will definantly outlast the truck now.

That's about the ONLY reason a 300 I6 will die. Repeated runs Over 4000 RPMs (or so) will surely kill it over time. This engine is just like a Diesel in that regard.
My dad has a 92' F-150 XLT sc/sb 2wd auto. 135,000 miles and only minor stuff like a water pump and regular maintanance. It's very well taken care of and still looks and runs great. I had a 80' F-100 with a little over 300,000 miles on it when I sold it. The only thing I did to it was rebuild the C-6 tranny once. That was a great truck, I loved it.
I have a little over 239,000 miles on my 1992 f-150 flareside. The oil pressure can be shaky sometimes, but I'm too broke to rebuild it. Hopefully with any luck it will keep running until I can afford to rebuild it.
I own an '89 4X4 inline M5OD. 190,000. Starts like new everyday No leaks. Just the gas tank, which I replaced 4 months ago. As well as it is running for me, I wonder if I'll need to replace the tank again in the future...
I own a 93 XL Reg. cab that has around 31,000 miles on it. I just had some leaking seals replaced on the transmission but I havent had any engine problems. Its a great truck!
