I had the Coopers on my '86 F150 years ago and I thought they were pretty great, drove 1500 miles across the country with them. I got the Open Range A/Ts because a lot of people I know talked me out of the KO2s. I'm not picky when it comes to tires or trying new things. I think I've tried a different set of tires on every vehicle I've owned.
I have a set of winter tires for the Explorer but no extra rims.
I have two sets of rims for Dually with summer and winter tires. But hey, I'm retired if the roads are too nasty I don't have to go out. And really some of the all season tires do a great job in the snow and ice.
After working 30 years for the phone company and driving on all sorts of tires and in all conditions I've come to realize all I need is a good all season tire.
I'm also thinking of buying a larger tire for the dually, it has 245/75 R17 on it now. I'm thinking maybe a 255/80 R17, it's .39" wider and 1.59" not a lot taller but a bet it will look a lot better.
I wish the local Les Schwab carried them, I like all the guys there but they don't seem to carry the tires I like. It's not my fault.
I think I read some members on here prefer the wranglers.
Honestly where ever I've lived in the country I've just listened to the advice of my local tire guys and that has always resulted in an A/Ts. I don't think I've ever had season specific anything and so far so good. Just told them what the truck is currently being used for and my concern for the 8 months of rain.
Evening Tim, Ken, Nicolas and Wayne. Really nice here for at least one day! Less humid. Good tires are not cheap, that is for sure! But who wants to not have good rubber you can count on. I too have too many tires and rims setting around butt always glad they are there when I need them.
Wayne, that is a nice '87!
Another thing to look at is if you're a Hagerty customer or in a car club they might have tire deals or discounts available. I recently got a $150 prepaid Visa when I bought a set of tires for the prius and another $150 for tires for the wife's car.
Fantastic Friday morning Washington, Tim, Nicolas, Ken, Ken and all the crew. It is the Weekend Eve and almost party time!
Looks to be a nice day in my woods topping out at 88°, plenty of sun and rh about 50%. This morning is wonderful at 66°, light breeze and it actually felt cool!
I don't think I ever got a rebate on tires! I did get a good discount on tires from Tire Rack . Com a couple of times. I ordered 4 Michelins and did get $100 off on each tire and a free mount and balance at a local shop.
I keep all seasons on the Escape but Mud and Snows on the Ranger. We use the 4wd often!
There always seems to be some sort of discount on tires. Right now there is a $100 off on a set of 4, not much but every little bit helps. I'll wait and see what next month brings.
Good morning everyone. Weather has been wonderful here this week, unfortunately my back is still tweaked so probably no fun or truck projects for me this weekend. New tires have been wonderful just driving around town and going up and down 20 a few times. Even had a tiny bit of rain the other morning.
Afternoon Tim and Nicolas! It has been a warm afternoon but not that unbearable.
Tim, Becky and I are like you after driving an Ambulance in all weather conditions wan to or not for 33 years. We have the skill, but now days neither ever care to show off that skill on white sheet of froze roads!
Nicolas, glad to hear the new tires are doing good.

Thanks I'll try and report back when they get scrubbed in and settled, will probably forget so somebody will have to remind me. Everybody says they look great, I really wanted 35's but the more I look at them the more they grow on me. I really want the general lee rims but they only come in a 15" rim and all the vintage ones on ebay are 16.5. May have to call about getting them custom made one day.
