Good morning crew,

Rod, Isolteing with main line valve is the only way we have.

I shut off all the meters first to isolate the main line, then one main line valve at a time and watch for flow at the pump house.

Evening Rod. Sounds like you are really up against it with the water. Have you always been the water commissioner?

Tim that water leak your chasing would drive me nuts! Is the community helping out at all or is it all you chasing leaks?

My sister in law north of you is also on a community well and had problems with some leak and they chased it for a while and ended up hiring a company to find it. The company came out and found it and 3 other small leaks in a of couple hours and freed up everyone's time that was chasing leaks.

I could come blow it up for you? Hehe

Steve, if those tomato plants come on all at once, you will be knee deep in them!

Tim, if you have several main line shutoff, you can do an old fashion test to isolate the leak. Listen at each main line shutoffs with a broom handle and see if you hear water flow. Shutting off taps and valves should let you isolate the leak section.
Listing for water flow is a good idea. Unfortunately, the lower end of the line is fairly close to the road and I'm not sure I will be able to hear it over the road noise, but I'm going to try it.

The system is roughly 60 years old, was full rebuilt maybe 45 years ago, and hasn't had much maintenance since then, until we installed the water meter over the last two years. I am the president, my wife is the secretary and the guy with the excavator (Butch) is the vice president, we have been in charge for the last 5 years.

For the most part, it's myself. I come up with a place to dig and then have help Butch. Maria helps when she can monitoring flow at the well house when I'm shutting main line valves off.

Fantastic Friday Washington, Tim, Ken, Ken, Steve, Wayne and all the crew. I hope everyone had a great 4th of July and didn't lose any fingers or toes!
It was a hot day in my wood standing in the sun at 89°, index of 99° and not much breeze while watching the Parade. In the afternoon the storms rolled in but that didn't stop the cookout.
Today will/is a repeat of yesterday's weather right down to afternoon storms!

Even next to the road, you should be able to hear the water flow. It is like sticking a screwdriver on a bearing housing on and engine while it is running. You still hear the bearing over the engine. OR, like doing the same with a Chevy 350 to find the ticky lifter with the valve covers on! LOL

It is the Weekend Eve and almost time to continue the 4th of July party!

Nice pic..thanks for sharing. There was a fireworks show at the fairgrounds last night...well attended. I could see them from my living room. The city's display has been postponed till Sunday due to the weather forecast. Hope you and Maria enjoyed them.
