Good morning Andy and....
I'm resting, I tried to get some things done yesterday and ran out of steam. Then again working in the attic moving insulation with a sinus thing wasn't a great idea.
Howdy all from the rims of Joseph and Hells Canyon. Not all went exactly as planned. Trip over was good and we had camp set up by 1700. Even got an hour's worth of grouse hunting in.
One of the guys had a cold last week and was pretty well on his way to full recovery. He started relapsing Friday evening. By Saturday evening one more of the guys started showing symptoms of the cold and Sunday 3 of the 5 of us were symptomatic. Monday afternoon 3 of us were out in the woods and shot a deer. We were late getting in with the deer and I think a combination of cold and exertion did 2 of them in. 0400 Tuesday morning the broke the news that four of them were going to call it quits and head for home. That left me as the sole 'survivor'.
So, I'm now a hunting party of one. I almost hate to say it for fear of tempting fate, but I'm not showing any signs of anything. Well, my nose is a little sore. I had a close encounter with a swinging tree limb Monday and broke a pair of glasses. I still have an unfilled tag for the area so I'm staying put. I have to travel 10 miles from camp to get cell coverage, but I have my Garmin Montana 700i GPS and Satellite SOS plus text messaging capabilities. I used the Satellite text to let the Warden know what was going on and then had a moment of cell coverage about 5 miles from camp to call her. Not so lucky today. Had toi drive 10 miles to the cell tower to connect to internet and telephone so I could contact the VA about my broken glasses. (I do have spares with me.)
