Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 33 with a 20+ mph wind that is really taking the wind chill down.
Heading into La Pine this morning for the Parade and Chili Feed.
I have a winch on the 96 Rich. Unloaded it would have probably worked - marginally. On the 350 with the camper loaded on, it would have been an exercise in futility. The big winch on the tow truck was barely sufficient. He could only use one as the other one was anchoring the tow truck to a tree. A 6-to-8-inch tree was pulled out by the root ball in the process as it was.
Found a Pisolithus Fungus type mushroom that had 'erupted' along the driveway. Pretty interesting. It's about 7 to 8" tall and really looks like a bomb exploded.....
Spent the morning resetting clocks and I'm still recharging a couple of 110 battery backups and rechargeable flashlights and shop lights. Also had to reset the camera systems. They had internal battery & cell phone backup, but the Wi-Fi needed to be reset on them once that system came back on line. I guess it was a good drill for an unplanned power outage. The one thing I didn't account for was the well. Well needs power for the pump. I'll have to get backup power for the well and we'll be all set.

Still working on the Klamath County Tax problem. No calls from them yet. Just got a call from the ranch next door. He just called them and got a live person to talk to. They acknowledged a problem but said it would be December probably before it got resolved. Wonderful, since the tax bill is due day after tomorrow to get any discounts and avoid further problems, To darn bad the county didn't resolve this issue and respond to my now 6 phone calls and 3 letters since June of this year.
This property tax business is about ready to get turned over to a lawyer. The neighbor and I finally got a live person in the assessor's office. We actually got an admission that someone in the office made a "clerical error". But, we were also told that nothing was going to happen right away. The neighbors would get an updated tax bill for the amount they hadn't paid yet on the two buildings they weren't billed for.
We have to pay the full amount as originally billed and we will get an updated statement just like the neighbors and get a refund of overpaid amounts. But the tax office has told the assessor's office they aren't even going to entertain looking at it until at least sometime in December. Then after they review it they will proceed with new valuations and revised statements with due dates for the neighbors and refund dates for us adjusted to a new schedule. Whatever that means.
