IIRC International governed the T444E to have peak torque at 1600 RPM. I'd be happy with peak between 1600-1800.
I don't understand, that has already been done with current S300 T4 setups. A lot of them are pushing close to 30psi below 2000rpm at max gross. With the size of the S300V, idk if it will be worth a darn above 2200rpm.

All the dynos I've seen from @Peixinho show peak torque around 2-2.2K RPM with SXEs an KC's SXE based turbos in 7.3 rigs. S360V has 60mm compressor wheel, similar inducer size to the 6.7 Cummins' HE351VE and the 6.7 PS' Garrett so it should be fine though I can retrofit a SXE 62mm wheel if needed. Turbine wheel geometry is the same as the 6.4 PS and the L5P Duramax so I don't see it becoming an limiting factor.
I don't know of any parts that would actually INCREASE peak tq down low enough to peak at 1800rpms. You could limit peak tq to 1600-1800rpms in tuning by pulling power to keep the tq curve flat.. It would make the truck feel underpowered until you get higher in the rpms.
Here is what that would look like... this is a dyno graph of a bunch of turbos on a 7.3 recently, getting ready to release some game changing options next year. But back to the subject. The black lines represent what it would look like if you just "limited" peak tq at 1800rpms. You would lose all the power and tq above the black line but would still make the same "peak hp" in the higher rpms.

Graph looks pretty nice! Interested to see what you have coming down the pipe.
The part in question would be a BW S300V VGT, electronically controlled. Same turbine size as the L5P's VGT (compressor is 60mm instead of 61mm), just the housing/CHRA is S300 style instead of the B2 style the Dmax has.

If the tuning is dialed in, I could see that spooling a little sooner. But I don't see it moving the power band UP 400-600rpms. Maybe 100-200rpms.
VGT does help, but more advanced wheels/tech also help. What I mean by that is size is not everything. The stock turbo is on this graph and it does not spool the fastest, make the most tq, and obviously not the most HP. Unloaded boost does come up quicker but falls off quick with the stock turbo. Under load the stock turbo gets blown away very fast, I can make a 66mm spool faster and make more peak tq vs the stock 60mm. But when it comes to max peak tq under heavy load... to small is not always better.
I am very interested to see your results. If you are in the AZ area you are more than welcome to use our dyno to test/tune your new vgt setup.

If the VGT helps put peak torque 100-200RPM lower than 2K RPM, I'd consider it successful; bottom end between the black and red curves on this L5P dyno.

That's a very generous offer, and much appreciated! I'm sure well get down there at some point for road trip vacation purposes after the truck is back together. Will definitely be in touch when that happens.
Can I get in on this as well? I have an electronically-controlled Turbonator VGT and I am relocating to a neighboring state in 10 days.
Yes sir, I have been following your threads and hardships. I would love to help.
Heck... maybe even work with you guys on some stuff we have in the works. I honestly think what we plan to offer next year is going to blow peoples minds.

I love dyno graphs. Keep in mind a modern diesel like the lp5 or even the new 6.7 have more than just turbo upgrades. They have common rail injectors, better piston bowl designs, better flowing heads, 4 valves per cylinder, 36k injection pressure, etc... etc... One of the biggest is going to be cam profiles, that will move around the power band so no matter what you do you will not be able to make great power lower than what the cam was designed for.
We took a 2020 turbo and put it in a 6.0... it spooled a little faster but did not run anything like it does on a 2020. 2020 makes peak tq at 2000rpms vs 2900rpms on the 6.0

How much money do we need to be saving for next year? 😂

Oh Lord. An opportunity to develop my dumb ideas through official channels? The end of the world is nigh.
