I dunno, a rebuilt sterling with a truetrac sounds pretty good to me.

Darin, I have heard a few others and their input. What say you? Was it a noticeable difference in running/performance? I plan on doing the project this summer. Hope all is well!

I don't know how noticeable it is,, but at higher rpm the valve train is more stable which is always good. There is not a lot of piston to valve clearance on these motors, so with weak springs and a higher rpm there's a much better chance of a valve kissing a piston.

I'm doing well Byron, I hope you and your family are too!

I'm debating shimming out to 1.790 or so to get about 124 lbs. on the springs. anyone more knowledgeable on valve springs?

Yes, idea there... did not make you purchase!

Guys recall, my heads are beat so fresh springs at correct height greatly increased my RPM capacity all the way to 3500rpm or whatever fuel cut is set. There is not much if any power out past 3200rpm or so...but as pointed out, valvetrain stability is key. It just coincides with getting back power that is already there and a more useful powerband in my case.

Got new tires put on today. 285/75R16. They look pretty good, need to find out where the paper on my tires are and verify torque on lugs. Sounds very loud at anything other than 10mph.

Other than that it rides great and no rubbing yet I can see.. I will trim the front a bumper a little bit to help any issues.

They obliged and put the weights on the back of the rim as well, which is awesome.

Found the culprit of my rubbing. All 4 wheels have stick on weights in different places. Going to try swapping a rear wheel for the front. If that doesnt work I will just trim the dust shield.

Tars!

I do stick on for inner and hammer on outer in same manner. Keeps them cleaner, but you do lose a touch of high speed balance that way.

Mine have the stick on and fish weight style on the inside. I like the cleaner look. But now rubbing issues

I hate stick on weights. FYI, they don't always stick like they are supposed to. I'd be pissed.

Sir, you appear to get pissed too often and too easily

If anything, I should be more pissed off than I am. I guess 9 years and 0 warzone deployments, I'm just happy to have control of the situation and fix the issue pretty easily.

It sucks, but being angry isn't gonna fix it. You think the tire shop would've noticed that and at least mentioned it.

Can you imagine if a different person had this happen,, perhaps one that wasn't as mechanically inclined? The shop would have an angry/concerned customer there asking WTH.
