I'm surprised by the number of people who are worried about the new truck being half an inch shorter in height. There are a number of reasons why they chose to lowered it, be it for fuel economy, better safety rating, or ease of access. I'm willing to bet it's mostly due to the ease of access as I've seen many people complain about the ever increasing height in that regard.
Going off the heights I've found online, it seems the 2020 would still end up being about 1.1 inches taller than the 2016. Either way, it's not a short pickup and I doubt there are many instances where the extra ground clearance will save you. It's also a bit easier to throw on a leveling kit and larger tires than to lower a truck, so it's not hard to get the height back if you really need it. I like taller trucks, but half an inch is so minuscule that it is a moot point to me.
Personally, I haven't owned a Ford in almost a decade, but the 2020 will be my first new vehicle purchase because all the new changes interest me. I understand new changes can have growing pains, and that's why resale value is important to me. I like knowing that I can buy a 2020 and if it turns out poorly I can upgrade to a 2021, or newer, without losing too much money.

Didn't know that fact about 2016 vs 2017+ trucks. Mind posting the links you found? Our fleet goes direct from 04 to 18.
A good front leveling kit with dropped radius brackets, even using spring blocks, is about $2k installed. If you go with full spring, add a few hundred (but it's worth it). That's a bit of money to throw, eh?
Lowering (or raising) the rear is trivial, with shorter (or taller) blocks and U bolts. Lowering the front, much less so, not trivial at all. But recent stock Fords have a "butt up" stance such that lowering the front isn't needed anyway. It wasn't always that way. My son has a 97 F-350 4x4 and it looks almost like it's been leveled, comparable to my 2018 that has been leveled. But his ride height is stock.
Who knows, perhaps there has been a hue and cry from pudgy aging guys who have trouble climbing into the 2017-2019 trucks, and we just missed the noise. Or it's the wives....This guy has a very short wife, I bet.

Short and... large. Very large, if'n he needs tandems in the rear.

I'm going off the Ford brochures for 16 and 17, so it's a pdf file, but the tallest f250 for 16 is 79.8 inches, the tallest 17 f250 is 81.5. If you Google the heights, it should show the same numbers.
from 2004 to 2019 the overall tire/wheel diameter increased, the step board is still pretty-much in line with the center hub, but it APPEARS to be a bit higher-up and the step-up from the ground FEELS to be a bit more, they can simply install the step boards with a 'longer (top-to-bottom) bracket to better split the difference between the ground and the truck floor if that is the reason.
If Ford has stopped taking orders for 19s that might explain why my local dealership hasn’t gotten back to me. It’s going on 2 weeks since she called me to see if I would be interested in buying a new truck. I have been watching the local inventory as I have been considering upgrading . I told the salesperson that called me that they didn’t have a truck I stock that I wanted. After asking what a wanted she said she would do a search and get back to me. The only thing I can figure is the don’t want to sell me a truck very bad.
This dealership has over 100 F150s in stock. But only a hand full of super duties. Only a couple of 250s and they’re STX’s. I don’t think I have ever seen so few new super duties on this lot. At some point I’ll stop in and see about ordering a truck. Or maybe ,I will buy one of the power wagons that are sitting on sold on the local lots.

I called my guy today to ask if they had any color info or anything new for 2020 yet and he said no. So I asked him if you could still order a 19. You can order a 19 till August 2. Then they start taking orders for 2020 on August 14

If it turns out poorly... who else would want it?
Only those who bought it at the right price to offset the risk of down time under warranty, or the cost of denied repairs.
If they bought it right, how would you not lose money?
I've seen seven month old trucks sell for less than 50% of what they sold for new less than a year earlier, depending on the reliability performance, and/or market conditions.
Payment buyers are generally not fully informed about how much they are really paying for the privilege of driving the latest gadget on wheels every other year, but there is no way NOT to lose money once the purchase contract is signed.
Vehicles are an expense, not an investment. The most successful dealers are the ones who manage to orchestrate circumstances that encourage their customers to become convinced that they are one of the very few who got themselves a special deal due to their diligent research, savvy, PCO, X Plan, having a desireable trade in, or combination thereof. But dealers would not be in business if they actually gave the glowing deals people gloat about. Perception is 9/10ths reality.
Those who accept that a truck purchase is an expense to be eaten in order to gain the benefit of using the darn thing, not storing it in an attempt to broker some future deal on the next model with more gadgets, will lose less money in the long run.

Couldn't that overall height increase simply be due to the roomier 2017+ cab? My very scientific older-guy-too-much-karate-knees-0-meter tells me that my 2004 is about as high as my 2018 to climb into. Both are leveled and run 35s. Both are 350s so would sit a little higher than the 250s you're citing.

Ayup, but they're not building that until November 4th. You'll wait over three months.

I have a 19 I got last year so I was just curious if any new colors would be available. I have a 2 tone white/grey king ranch but if they offered a two tone silver spruce / go back to white gold or something I might be inclined to order
