Jim - those are some of the bill I’m talking about. You missed the rent control one... can’t remember the number.
Anyway good afternoon. Spent most of the day bucking up an oak that fell down a few months ago and fell a couple small firs. One thing for sure is I’m not much of a logger but the trees are down and I’m alive. Lol. Really need it to dry out so I can drag the logs to the house so I can turn the logs into campfire wood. Picked up an electric log splitter this week to make it easier. I’m getting too old for this stuff.
Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Home from the Range and the Range Safety Officer Stuff. Got in early enough that I could get out to Mac Welding early this morning and get the brush guard welded up and reinforced. They guaranteed that the welds were good enough another deer and 5 democrats. I get a 50% discount if it lasts for 7 demoncrats.

I may have forgotten to mention the rent control, but haven't missed or skipped it. Wrote Gumball er, uh I mean Gomberg - yep we got kicked out the valley, we are 'Coastal' folks now don't you know.
This is a part of what I got back last Wednesday...
"I have often argued that too many regulations discourage the building or buying of rental investments on the Coast, and encourage smaller landlords to take properties out of the monthly rental market and instead change to nightly vacation rentals. We need to protect renters from abuse. We also need to build more affordable housing. Here are some of the specifics and compromises of SB 608: Just Cause Eviction: During the first 12 months of occupancy, a tenant can be evicted (with proper notice) for any reason. After the first year, evictions are only allowed for cause. A fixed term lease must be renewed unless there is legal cause not to do so. Landlord Based Evictions: A landlord may terminate tenancy if they sell a unit, demolish, rehab or repair, or are moving a family member in. Ninety days’ notice is required and the landlord must pay one month’s rent in relocation assistance. This payment is waived for landlords with four or fewer units. Extreme Rent Increases: Landlords may not increase a tenant’s rent by more than 7% + consumer price index in a 12-month period. Current law already prohibits rent increases in first year of month-to-month tenancy and requirements 90-day notice of rent increases. New Construction: New construction is exempted for 15 years after certificate of occupancy
SB 608 is moving quickly. I will vote in favor of it when it reaches the House.
Thank you for your email, and please let me know if I can be of further service.
Warm Regards,
David
.
FYI, It had reached the house and had a house committee hearing on it that day....
Then I got this back from him yesterday (Friday). Obviously the man is terribly confused, or has discovered he has two sides of his mouth to speak out of or has aids that don't know what the other has said for him 2 minutes earlier. (Of course last year he told me, in writing, that he was going to vote against a gun control bill and a couple of hours later, voted for it.)
David Gomberg….
I am concerned that rent controls are shown not to work well and may encourage more annual increases. I’m concerned that we will be both prohibiting and also encouraging no-cause evictions. I’m concerned that this measure impacts mobile home parks in unintended ways. And I’m particularly concerned the bill has been listed as an “emergency” and will take effect as soon as signed by the governor. That means small landlords could be subject to these new rules within the month with little time to understand or adjust to them.
There is every indication this bill is going to pass. I’ll take the weekend to decide how I plan to vote.
Does it set back the plants much that have already bloomed..?
Not too much. Most years we get a false summer the end of February then it freezes again, we lost a couple of fruit trees from that.
Wife reminded me that the lilacs loose some blossoms that way too.
Hey everybody glad to be z part of the site and hope everyone has a good and safe 2019. Ready for summertime so I can get the 2wd f150 ripping again meanwhile we are 2 inches away from the altimeter snowfall record for February in wisconsin....so that's fun
