Made it home from the Lake Friday night. The new to us pickup ran fine and the ride was much more of a creature comfort thing and not at all like the 96 F250. I'm still trying to get used to the difference in running temps.
Ran into trouble with some FOD (foreign object debris) in the water that fouled up the boat motor and tore the skeg off. Had to take a knife and go "swimming" to get it free and clear. Shaft, bearings and all seem to be just fine and there are no oil leaks so we should still be good to go for Diamond Lake.
In the process of all of that, the Warden tripped and lost her balance and fell resulting in a trip to the hospital yesterday.
Stopped by Dennis Boat Shop in West Salem and he looked at the motor. He too thinks that everything should be good to go for Dia. Lake. I'll drop the boat off with him after we get back from that trip and figure out what is going to be needed to replace the skeg.
At first I thought it was carpeting from someone's boat trailer bunks. Then I got to thinking that we were right next to the Marina and earlier in the season I had seen people partying on the docks with carpet laid down and dining canopies installed over the top of it. When I was discussing it at the boat shop and we laid the pieces of carpet out, we are pretty sure that is where it came from. Something someone had left laid out on the dock. Wind/storms blew it off into the water where it eventually ended up wound up tight around my lower unit.

It is sufficient enough and she is hurting enough that they actually gave her a 3 day supply of morphine. Even the Specialist that looked over the CT Scan they did commented that that was one big gnarly hematoma.
I had a very large hematoma (the size of a football) back in the LEO days when I got into the middle of the robbery - shooting. I was off work for 3 months, before I got a return to "light duty" and got stuck in a detectives office chasing bad checks and fraud cases for 1 month. Then I had to spend two more months in a Patrol Car before the Doc would release me back to full duty and I could return to the Motorcycles.
The Wardens Hematoma is much worse than mine was, in scope anyway. Like mine, the "experts" are not wanting to stick a needle in there and drain it for fear of complications and introducing outside germs / infection. They think it best to leave it closed. Did I mention, she will be spending quite a bit of time sitting on a very, very soft pillow?
Morning all 48 and a little fog out this way.
Went to the hot air balloon thing in Albany Friday night.
Hiking Sat. and over to Newport Sunday.
