Used a piece of 3/8" plate and cobbled a base, then bolted it to the block using the holes for the turbo pedestal. Then added an old engine lift plate.
Mine was floating today too. Nice garage, but I’m a little worried about the Sawzall on the floor.
Great tool when nothing else will do. One of the socket head bolts on the factory lifting eye at the back of the engine rounded out, couldn't remove the eye, engine removal delayed. Sawzall leveled the playing field.
I had the same problem with one of those, hex rounded out. I think I used a torx and finally got it out. But the lifting eye was kept in place during the pull, it just came off afterward. Not sure if either is going back on at full height, the front one right now is set up to hold the exhaust pressure sender rather than the T/S bracket.
Sawzall gets used a fair amount on auto repair at this location ........
I'll have the heads off today. Tomorrow I'll drive 90 miles to Carlisle, PA and drop off my heads at UCF Machine Shop for a complete rebuild. They said about 1.5 weeks turn-around.
