Speaking of junk drawers, I was looking at my ’05 Superduty file. The largest auto file I’ve ever had and remembered the first EGR cooler replacement. That was back in March of 2010 at 118,629 miles. What’s memorable for me is how I payed for the repair. Back in 2009 or ’08 with the recession Ford and GM stocks were heading down so I figured I’d buy some stock while it was down and cash in when it got back to normal.Haha, joke’s on me.Anyway GM went to zero and Ford stayed down so I salvaged about $200.Reading the Ford news on E-trade I read an article entitled “Ford will help Visteon through the Bankruptcy”.I looked up Visteon Corp and it was trading at 5 cents so I bought a thousand shares.A few months later it was trading at 2 and ½ cents so I bought another 500 shares and pretty much forgot about it. In March of 2010 I was working windstorm claims in the Pittsburg area when poof white smoke out the tailpipe. I had it towed to Shultz Ford and they diagnosed it right away for me.I was a little short on cash since it had been a slow hailstorm season and I had a motel bill to pay, plus the rental truck bill. Well, you’re probably bored to death by now so go ahead and get a cup of black coffee or an adult drink. I’ll wait. Alright, glad you’re back. Anyway, I took a look at my E-trade account and saw the Visteon stock had shot up above one dollar and was down to 84 cents. I sold the shares and netted around $1,300 that I applied towards the EGR cooler repair. Visteon Corporation manufactures and supplies automotive components to several manufacturers. It supplies (or did supply) Ford with radiators, condensers, evaporators annnd wait for it (maestro fanfare please, drum roll and rim shot) yes the infamous 6.0 EGR Cooler. So I payed for the majority of the repair with funds I earned by investing in the company that manufactured the component that failed. I don’t think that’s ironic, maybe it’s interesting or just my good luck. Anyway, fell free to change the topic.
Ticks me off when companies go bankrupt and screw all their share holders (like GM), at least Ford didn't do that or take bail-out money. I held bonds in Delphi and lost all of it when they went out in '05. Kmart was one that really burned me: they go bankrupt, I lose my holdings, coming out of bankruptcy they buy Sears as part of the reorganization (How can they do THAT?!) and re-name themselves Sears Holding Corp. I could go on about my losers, but fortunately have had many more winners and am letting professionals (Fund managers) pick the stocks and bonds now. You live and learn... I think I mentioned this one before: bought Amazon for just under $4 (right after 911 - figured nobody would be going to the malls) -- pretty much doubled my money when I sold it at $7 something... :-/ It has been over $1600 a share... :-(

Thanks for the tip Scott, (edit complete). So K-mart bought Sears, I thought it was the other way around. Like you I let the "pros" manage my savings but I like to goof around a little on the stock market. Kinda like going to the track and placing $9 on a longshot. The Visteon investment was a fluke, I trully expected it to fold and go to zero. I bet you have bad knees from kicking yourself after Amazon took-off; I would.
Well Sunday wasn’t very fun. I ended up in hospital Sunday egvening emergency gallbladder surgery next morning starting to slowly feel better.
I guarantee you there’s mobile app sucks hard how hard it is to make it.

DANG, Sean!!! You just can't get a break... Sorry to hear and hope recovery is quick. What are those lyrics?: "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all..." Or something like that... I remember it once from Stevie Ray Vaughan, but he didn't write it -- think the song is "born under a bad sign"...
Bout time for your luck to change, Sean...
Take care,
Scott
Hope you recover quick Yahiko, Be patient, remember everything moves at a snail's pace in a hospital.
I know. It does not help when they go to remove the drain that I almost melted into the bed.
Had to wait for the surgeon to approve the use of a dose of happy juice. EVEN then I felt it.
You behave yourself and quit throwing stuff on the floor so that the nurses have to bend over to pick it up.
She was worried about me dropping ME on the floor after they gave me some DILAUDID (hydromorphone hydrochloride) do to the issues or removing
the drain. The stilly thing was stuck and did not want to come out without me screaming The pain was the type that should only hurt at the one spot but
turned to hurt all the way down to my toes. If the DILAUDID had not worked it would meant a trip back to the OR for a quick nap.
The gallbladder pain and removal is not something I have to ever repeat but I can say that it's one of those things you don't ever have that pain from.
Sorry to hear about that, get better soon.... well the snails pace, or rather, the turtle setting on my riding mower (; turtles are actually rather fast. Maybe you'll get some of this hay fever luck i have, everytime i mow.
my cummins is coming along slowly, getting a rebuilt CAT turbo for it, its rebuilt as of today, just waiting on the bank. 58/61/14 $400 im doing the machine work myself, so 400 is a STEAL! low buck 450hp! Need some other supporting mods, and a new vp44 still, but that's alright. Couldn't pass up a $400 rebuilt turbo.
im excited to say the least. Here i come 500+ hp tow pig..

OUCH! You're a brave man, I've never been in that kind of pain. I did spend a whole Feburary in the hospital a long time ago. I stepped on a nail and an infection formed. They had to cut into my foot and cut out a piece of the bone. I remember the morphine shots in the recovery room. I knew then why junkies like being junkies. After that they put me on IV antibiotics and wouldn't let me go home for a month. They did things diferently back then.
During my stay I had four or five roommates. One of them was what was known back then as an operator; I woke up late one night and he and a nurse were real cozy. Anyway, when a good looking nurse was coming in the room he would look at me and say whatch this; then he would throw his cigarettes (or something) on the floor so that the nurse would have to turn away from us and bend over. He would get a big smerk on his face while I shook my head in disbelieve.

I'll tell you that I would not wish that pain on most anyone. BUT maybe on some dictators.
I should of slower down a bit more today. But it is no where what the pain was on Sunday night.

Hang in there, you'll get better. Get plenty of sleep, your body needs the rest. Keep the nurse call button within reach. When they start feeding you, eat everything even if you don't like it, they won't overfeed you and you need the nutrision for healing.
Funny that you should say something about eating.I was on clear fluids only for what seemed like forever.
When the sergon came up to check in on me about 30 hours later and having not eaton sense Sunday AM.
I asked if I could eat and he said yes. The next person that walked in my room was asked to please bring me
some apple sauce. I can tell you that did not sit on the food tray very long. Anyway as soon as any tray landed
on the table I was all about tackling it.
Well, there you go. I'm glad you're doing good and it looks like they're taking good care of you. Well I've always been about 30 lbs overweight but after my stay in the hospital I came out as fit as I'd been in 20 years. And yes, it never took me very long to empty the food tray, heck them dishes hardley need washing when I was done.
