Wages are always a can of worms. My own personal opinion is we should not have a minimum, let the market run its course.

By human nature we all want to get as much as possible, even Bernie Sanders wants that. But government usually skews the numbers with unintended concequencies.

Any employer is going to want to pay as little as possible for the best person. In my corporate life HR gave hard rules, somewhat, somewhat modified based on the economy. During good economy times I might get 20 responcies to ads for test drivers, in bad times it was just plan nuts.

The other aspect are the real costs. I had full budget control, every year had to project the costs for my two facilities (R&D is all cost, no income). As a major corporate entity we had full benefits that I wish I still had, but those overhead costs ran at 32% of wage, so whatever all of us salaried employees made, say $30,000 as a starting wage, the cost to the company was $39,600. Overtime didn’t have as much of the overhead, just the state and federal costs. Overhead costs included Cadillac med and dental, 401k match, WC, etc. so depending on the benefits .....

The other aspect from my life was the skill level coming in. For my situation 90% of the work was in-service training. On the east coast there wasn’t similar work, and it had an athletic and discipline quality to it. It’s like going to a country where they don’t play baseball and trying to hire a pro baseball player. Get them in the game and it may not work out too well. But that aspect is true from a management perspective in any business to a certain extent. So we had a more extreme situation, a high “thanks for the last few months, but it ain’t working” situation, and on the positive side a good bump up at the first year review. It’s important to find out what the advancement can be after the entrance wage.

Some well meaning idiots got it on the ballot and the sheep voted for it.

Wht they did not take into account is the loss of jobs do to the higher cost to do business. The U of W did a study that proved that is what is happening.
Burger flippers making $15 an hr STUPID. I feel for the person that worked there *** off to get to $15.50. Do you think that the boss will up there pay
when the new hire that just got done flipping burgers walks in and gets $15. No way. So it works out to the cost of living goes up and everyone looses
out from that along with less people being hired at the lower end.

It's part of the left wing's (commies, globalists, liberals, progressives, democrats, etc.) long range goal to disrupt/destroy our free society. How many 18 year olds are right now sitting around think and saying "I'm not going to that stupid vocational school, technicians only make 16.74 an hour. When the minimum wage comes I'm gona get a job at McDonalds", and the other one says "Yeah man I'm gona be a barista. Pass the joint". A generation destined to go down the toilet.

The fast food industry is not just going to take it.
This past Summer I was working in Odessa, TX and went into a McDonalds. There was the usual line at the counter, however right there where one waits there were four self-order screens with no waiting. Touch the items you want, insert your cc/dc, next thing you know a human is calling your number and handing you your order.
That will be the outcome of $15/hr minimum wage.

That and have you seen the prices?
Jack in The Box, I ordered a sourdough jack and a large diet coke.
It was almost $10.00 and that was near Seattle where this $15 hr crap started.

Sawant, Kshama was behind a lot of the junk coming out of Seattle.
I can't verify this but it is rounered that she has missed a lof of votes for things that she supports.
Also if you have not guessed it she is a socialist.

Sadly King County and Seattle seem to run the state of Washington. (Into the ground?)

The left's goal is a one world government, imagine an expanded European Union. The U S Constitution stands in the way of the one world government. After all how can Americans posses handguns, rifles, semi-auto weapons at will, when Canadians and Mexicans can't even posses a bullet legally? Quoting parts of the Bible is illegal in Canada and Britain. You know those pesky first and second amendments....they gotta go, just ask any "liberal". Liberal; the greatest misnomer of the twentieth century.

I have heard (on talk radio) that sanctions have been brought against preachers that quote scriptures that condem homosexuality. Even here in the U S quoting the Bible in that respect can get one thrown off social media, fired, publicly made unfit to hold public office. There is no law like the second amendment in Britain or Canada so you can't condem Islam or discuss any subject that the government doesn't want you to. Conservative Michael Savage has been banned/barred from the U K since 2009. His only weapons are words. One would think how can the land that gave the world the Magna Carta, defied the Pope, sank the Spanish armada, destroyed the Ottoman Empire, suffered the blitz and defeated Hitler would cower in fear of words?
The one world government globalist (Democrats and many Repubicans) are not going to put up with Americans having rights that the rest of the world can only dream about. That's why the deep state is trying to overturn the 2016 election. That's why they defy established constitusion laws like spying on citizens, ignoring congrssional oversight, politicaly weaponizing government agencies like the IRS, FBI, DOJ, CIA, NSC, etc. Obama had us pointed towards that one world government, eight years of crooked Hillary would have sealed the deal.

nd we still have the spawn of the Hil-Billy to worry about in a few years.
If Lizzard-breath does not get in first.

I wonder how long it going to take some of the old farts on both sides to drop dead.
But with that good medical they get it may be some time.

We may want to not get too deep into the political or John may be forced to drop the hammer.

Ech, what you gonna do?

This is the perfect thread for a rant, cause the idea is to change the subject.

So (to change the subject) do you still have two yellow trucks?

Yep.
The heavy work for me is done and now I am down to bolt on. Then it's a trip to the fram machine to tweak it a bit or I might
just take it in and have the aningment checked and it that is all good then just weld the new bracket in place and bolt on the
other parts. Then I can sell or send off for some finish body work and paint.

not to bring it back to life , but here in Cali were hoping for Travis Allen to take charge, and boot Moonbeam , grousom Newsom didn’t even show up at the debate but browns Crony’s did, this state is going down if anybody but Allen gets in office, we’re at 15 min wage , it’s Fast food not cheep food , I’ll save my money and go have a Steak in a real restaurant, those prices have gone up slightly but not like a cheep milk cow scrap burger.

Hope you guys kick all those SOBs out of office. Even libs that voted the commies into office can't afford to live in California, so naturaly they want to move over here and vote for commies to ruin this state.
Help keep Californians out of Texas, send donations to Republican canidates running for California electoral offices.

I thought of this while driving my 6.0.
