The Junk Drawer Off Topic Threads
I was in work truck on a highway in middle of nowhere doing 70-75 in 105* summer day and I hear BANG on a rear tire and two seconds later another BANG losing both rears together I immediately looked in side mirror and saw so much tire smoke I could see nothing.. No spare on our dually trucks you yank one off the rear as needed. I put my hydraulic jack on the pavement and as I attempt to lift the 12,000 service truck I am watching the jack going through the pavement 4"-6" with the truck not budging. I had no plate or plywood to save my life. Tried in several locations all with the same results.
After struggling half an hour a Les Schwab truck going other way saw I was down both rears and crossed the median and gave me a free tire swap left rear to right. Was one of their dually flatbeds for semi trucks, they had outer rear off of passenger side and on drivers side in 10 minutes. Went at 55mph with fingers crossed my rears wouldn't blow from being overloaded before getting to Les Schwab. Made it there they threw on two new tires and I have forever bought all of our tires there since.
I had a chrome trim piece of a car blow through my 36" Fun Country tire making two holes one in other out from inside the tire. No spare and I drove 7-8 miles on a 100% flat rear. Surprising thing was the truck was only down 4-5" on that side because the sidewalls were so stout it wasn't a issue. I watched a guy put 4 plugs in one hole and 6 in the other. My thumb fit in one of the holes. But the tire went the distance even with spaghetti looking plugs in it.
I have only had two flats in my personal lifted trucks over 35-37 years I have driven. But have had around 6 or 7 in my work trucks over 33 years. Big tall 36-38" 4X4 tires are tougher I think then the pavement queen tires on work trucks.
I must give Kuddos to your wife for having the grit to handle a truck and trailer in any size. But over 50' combined length she is awesome, I would only do it as a last resort myself. I don't mind my 15' quad trailer but a full sized trailers of size and weights count me out. I think that's awesome and already know she's one of the few women capable of backing up. My wife is barely able to backup her little X5, not a snowball chance in hell she would even pull the quads in my truck.
Ok now are you being serious about her being a champion race car driver too. Nevermind answering who shovels that shlt, I already know.

I did a lot of development and testing on the car - we used pyros back then for tire temp readings. Going by the SCCA rule book and doing everything it allowed for our class, and then we got BFG sponsorship (Shaved tires are huge if you want to play with the big Boys). Yes she kicked everybodys butt, several times, and they gave her jackets, just so you know who is walking the course with you...
Scott
But yes they keep track of who wins at Nationals, and I can PM you her name and you will see...

Thats insane your wife is Trixie Racer. Your alright Speed that I will give you.. I am sure we would have our share of fun as neighbors ,
But now the driving truck and trailer thing has been deflowered a touch and replaced with 180mph wife busy racing cars.
What a Simpleton my life has become. gonna find my wife and then slap her for under achieving.
Second thought not a good idea, She's a RN and I'm the dumb Pipe Fitter !! Shlt !!!
I'm not far from you hour tops.

What’s memorable for me is how I payed for the repair. Back in 2009 or ’08 with the recession Ford and GM stocks were heading down so I figured I’d buy some stock while it was down and cash in when it got back to normal.Haha, joke’s on me.Anyway GM went to zero and Ford stayed down so I salvaged about $200.Reading the Ford news on E-trade I read an article entitled “Ford will help Visteon through the Bankruptcy”.I looked up Visteon Corp and it was trading at 5 cents so I bought a thousand shares.A few months later it was trading at 2 and ½ cents so I bought another 500 shares and pretty much forgot about it.
In March of 2010 I was working windstorm claims in the Pittsburg area when poof white smoke out the tailpipe. I had it towed to Shultz Ford and they diagnosed it right away for me.I was a little short on cash since it had been a slow hailstorm season and I had a motel bill to pay, plus the rental truck bill.
Well, you’re probably bored to death by now so go ahead and get a cup of black coffee or an adult drink. I’ll wait.
Alright, glad you’re back.
Anyway, I took a look at my E-trade account and saw the Visteon stock had shot up above one dollar and was down to 84 cents. I sold the shares and netted around $1,300 that I applied towards the EGR cooler repair.
Visteon Corporation manufactures and supplies automotive components to several manufacturers. It supplies (or did supply) Ford with radiators, condensers, evaporators annnd wait for it (maestro fanfare please, drum roll and rim shot) yes the infamous 6.0 EGR Cooler.
So I payed for the majority of the repair with funds I earned by investing in the company that manufactured the component that failed. I don’t think that’s ironic, maybe it’s interesting or just my good luck.
Anyway, fell free to change the topic.
