Shawn,

Super fun, but a little tight in the drivers seat. Going on a trip takes a little planning and some good tetris skills.

David,
I wasn't aware you could tow a TJ two up with out causing damage to the t-case, except maybe automatics.

Morning, folks! Josh, that was what jumped out to me as well. The nerd in me looks forward to learning/hearing more about this...

ive always just been more curious about handling... had a few tell me when driving them things it was like playing a game of russian roulette.. most common complaints i hear is about sloppy (large amounts of play) steering, and being very top heavy making them feel like it would roll easily in a curve.

You shouldn't, no. Normally I would pull the driveshaft, but I went about 8 blocks.

The short, narrow wheel base gives them that feel. But they really aren't tippy if not lifted. I've always thought the steering was good. If it's sloppy, they have problems.

Agreed, every one I've ever touched has had very responsive steering, even with worn out steering boxes on them. Some play, but beyond that responsive.

I do have a lifted one, and I don't drive it like it's a sports car. A jeep is a purpose built vehicle for offroad use, which has been adapted to the minimum required for use on the road legally. At least that's how I feel. It is not a good long trip vehicle, mountain road vehicle or high speed vehicle. But I don't think it was ever intended to be. Not to say it can't do any of those things, just don't think it was the first consideration when it was designed.

Happy Friday NC. I just finished a week in Iowa to get qualified on these machines. Spent the last month doing all the prerequisites. I have to wait a year before I can come back to get certified. It was avery long and rough week but I passed.
