Yesterday was not a good day.
On my way into work at 1am yes 1am!
My truck (02 Durango w/5.9) stopped running and had to call the wife to come get me and take me to work. She was not happy.
Wife did do all the work of getting to towed to Dodge and setting up a loner.
It may be the in tank fuel pump as it just shut down doing 55mph. When waiting I tried to start it and it would run very ruff and really low idle and throttle did nothing.
That is its shelf is strange as I would think it would of done something?
After driving 460 miles apex> belwes creek> Kinston> apex
When in Kinston I could smell the tractor batteries cooking. AMP gauge was at 25 amps from the time I could smell the batt till I got back to the yard.
Got back to yard/shop and they said leave it and they would check it out.
2 trucks in 1 day starting an hour after I got up is not good.
Picked up the loner and I think they are trying to get me in a new truck!
It is a 2017 2500 HD 4x4 pick up with a 6.7 hemi with 1800 miles on it.
Nice truck and would love me a new(er) one but just cant swing the money for it.
Now to get working on my 81 F100 project so I don't have to worry about a loner the next time.
ive always just been more curious about handling... had a few tell me when driving them things it was like playing a game of russian roulette.. most common complaints i hear is about sloppy (large amounts of play) steering, and being very top heavy making them feel like it would roll easily in a curve.
Nothing to them. Buddy had a 73 CJ5 with a factory 304 v8 and 3sp.
Never any issues when on the road then took it off the road to race it and in all the years only laid it on it's side once.
Another race team member with a 65 CJ5 laid it on it's side after bumping a tree when racing off road.
Heck I did a 360 roll with my 73 Toyota LC racing and rolled a 74 Bronco racing never either when on the street.

Ohwell got to go do a DOT physical in the morning.
Reminds me I got to get a PO from work to get my DOT check up by the 22nd.
Work pays for ours as they want you to go to their place for it and that is ok with me.

I pay for mine out of pocket, then turn in a expense report.
Welllll I thrashed kicked screamed and spent a pile of money.... But we are at the mud pit with the truck for a couple shake down runs and get the wife some seat time.
Dave, sorry to hear about your troubles, you know before you get to sold on a Dodge, may want to at least drive a new FORD.
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Time to get some work done I think.
Yes good to hear it went well for the first time out.
Josh, at this time I cant be sold on anything new for lack of funds
It is funny the wife & I went out to dinner in it and she wants me to have a new truck more than I do!
I also just put a lot of money into the 02, ball joints, tires and 2nd set of front brakes at 200K.
The only thing I don't like of my 02 is when it goes down you need to have it towed and a computer to tell you what is wrong. Would be the same for anything new I guess?
Oh the bumper/frame measurement is 37.5"

A little 30 - 40$ palm reader will give you most codes. I prefer injection over carb's. Not that I can't rebuild carbs and work on them, I just find injection less problematic, giving me time to work on other projects. As for new trucks, if you can convince yourself, a regular or super cab will work, vs the crew then that really brings down the price significantly. Some days I wish I'd opted for the super cab over the crew. Just for the price.
Well a wet rainy Tuesday, hoping it clears before the afternoon so I can get some work done.
I do like the larger rear seat room of this loaner truck over the room my Durango has but I don't use the back seat much so.....
It also rides a lot better with 250 lb behind the rear tires as I had to pick up salt for the water softener.
Unless we hit the lottery there's no new truck for me
The dealer called be for I went to work, late start be cause of weather, and the fuel pump took a crap! I guess being an 02 with close to 200K on the truck is not so bad? It will hit the credit card for $1200, that is bad.
Yea this weather has cut back on cement loads, only 1 yesterday and 1 today, off to see eye Dr. tomorrow so pay check will be crap for this week and that is if the other 2 days we even work.
