Mike, Glad to have you. You are in luck, I think we have a dinner planned that way this week on Thursday to meet a VA member that is over at Topsail this week.
Still got lots to do to get the truck ready for the road.
Hope everyone is ready for Monday!
There you go blaming me for the dinner plans again.....lol
very much so... ive never messed with an autos internals other than a filter swap because i found them very intimidating... but all i had to do was drain the pan.. drop it... pull the old filter off.. turn this stupid sensor 90* and yank it out for the new one to go back in with reinstalling everything in reverse... unfortunately that didnt happen... when i went to pull that sensor it instead snapped off flush with the bottom of the valve body...
so what was to be a 5 min job turned into a 4 hr cussing match with having to drop the valve body to drive it out from the other side... after getting it bolted back into place was only then did i find out that there were mystery parts sitting in the bottom of the drain pan which i had no clue WTH they were supposed to go back to... i got lucky to find a shift kit install instructions that showed where those mystery parts went and got them put back into place... (wasnt doing a shift kit.. just helped find where they went)
now theres 12 new qts of tranny fluid in the tranny... it goes backwards and forwards in the driveway.. now i just need to finish the rest of my maint to get it finished.. hopefully when i get to running it all back together and down the road everything works like it should
Willie in particular oughtta be happy with this. Stopped by the local gun/ammo shop just off the island today and got a decent deal for a pair of mags for my carry weapon. When I get back home I'll grab a 2-mag carrier for my belt and thus double my current carrying capacity. I was hoping to land a decent price on ammo, but frankly, this makes me even happier
James, if four mags don't do it then it's time to change game plans.
I'd like to think a proper game plan includes the most absurd level of redundancy possible....lol. I can always not use what I don't need, but can't use what I don't have, no matter how bad I need it.
I had a Sig P220 with about 10 mags until Wesley talked me out of it. I'll get another one one of these days.
In other news I'm trying my best not to hit the Buy Now button on a new Stumps Junior. I've been wanting one for awhile now. Decisions, Decisions.
Be Good.
That Stumps Jr. is pricey! That's a whole lot of meat you can smoke in a rusty old hardware store smoker for that price. But then, at that price, it's a toy not just a cooker...
I watched one of those cooking shows one time, and he used just simple terracotta pots to build a home made smoker, looked simple cheap and easy..
Yep, definitely a toy to an extent. However, it takes smoking meat to a whole new level. I used one that I babysat a couple of years ago that a friend left here while he was in the process of moving so it wouldn't get stolen or go missing. It was nice to throw a brisket
(or 2) in there for 20hrs and not have to constantly watch it or feed it fuel.
Oh YEA...I've smoked meat in the terracotta pots, barrels, cardboard boxes, you name it...lol. I still have the remnants of the holes in the ground where I smoked a half dozen pork shoulders a few years ago. I gotta admit...I loved every minute of it.
