Fall fling thread is up. Think we have settled on a date. Check out the thread and let us know if it works for you.

Otherwise, enjoy your Sunday! I'm getting out of the house today and heading over to Mary's (and maybe hitting Harbor Freight on the way)

Good afternoon, NC peoples.

Sorry I've not been quite as active as of late. Been kinda hectic here. I just summarized on the VA BS thread with details. Suffice it to say I don't wanna re-type it.....lol.

Update: Apparently there's this thing called "copy and paste...."

"Some of you may remember my previous mention of wanting to become a teacher, and a couple weeks ago, I nearly had my chance. One of the local high schools interviewed me and submitted a recommendation to the school board to hire me, provided I could be approved for a provisional teaching license. Apparently, though, while I have a bachelor's degree in History, in order to be approved for a provisional license, I'd need certain amounts of credit hours in geography, political science, and economics, and the school board tells me I'm coming up short there...

So....enter the backup plan (which was the primary plan before I got called for an interview). I've been accepted into the VA Career Switcher program, which is an 18-week course starting this August. I've ordered 9 textbooks for this course, and have already been advised to have two of them read before the first session on August 5th. Once I complete this course, I'll be eligible to receive a 1-year Provisional License, which can convert into a permanent (5-year renewable) license after my first successful year of teaching."

Congratulations OTL. I know teaching is a difficult and rewarding profession. Best of luck in the new endeavor. If you have any questions, big or small, shoot them over. My Mary has been teaching all over the country (Houston, Vegas, Mississippi, Carolina and soon Virginia) for 18 years. I'm sure she can help answer any questions that you may have.

Congrats James!
Happy Fourth of July everybody. Hope y'all have a good day.
Crappy, and raining....again. I've put a small #6 Brisket in the smoker this morning for our dinner this evening.
I smoked a #10 bone in, Pork Shoulder this last Saturday for a BBQ with our old neighborhood in Ozark. Hands down, it was the best Shoulder that I've done. I was able to pull the bone right out, and the meat just fell apart.

Thanks for the support, guys! I've wanted to be a teacher for 20 years, so being so close to getting offered a position and not getting to go that route was disappointing, but seeing as I've waited this long, I suppose another year or so isn't a big deal.

Josh, I remember you mentioning that at the dinner about Mary. I'll keep that in mind and thanks for putting that out there.

Bob, speaking of the dinner, I think the fellas were tickled to see your Coyote stickers on Hellfreezer 2 when I met them. I hate that I missed you and hope all is well in Missouri for ya

Hey James!
Yeah I talked to Marty not too long after y'all met for dinner. He did mention that he'd seen that Coyote decal on your truck, and that it was nice seeing it on there.
And thanks, we're doing pretty good. We miss our friends in North Carolina, but it's great to be home.

Hope everyone had a good Fourth. Mary and I got out to see some fireworks at South Park here in Fuquay Monday night. I certainly didn't expect such a large show for a (not so little) town. They did good. Met up with Dustin afterwards for some pizza. Tuesday I was able to cut the front weeds and do a little edging. Grilled burgers out as well. Now it's back to the same old grind. Got the camp site booked for the October get together. I'll work it out with Marty who will bring the grill.

Starting to think the first time ya'll might see the one ton back on the road will be the campout in October, as I've blown through my budget on getting this thing painted, and I'm not happy with how it's turning out. Thinking I'll have to order another gallon, whicih means the whole thing will have to get sprayed again. I was really hoping one gallon of blue would be enough, if I had known what I know now... I'd have skipped the two tone and just done two gallons of blue from the same batch at the same time.

But ya learn something new every day....

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Good morning, NC!

Bob, I'm sure the group wouldn't mind me stating the obvious: your friends in NC definitely miss you, too. Your name came up an awful lot at the dinner. As a guy who has a lot of friends in Ohio to this day, I know it's a special, if bittersweet, feeling to have such highly valued friendships over such a long distance.

As for me and my folks, we did our 4th of July festivities early. The local summer college league baseball team ran a huge special on their already cheap tickets for this past Saturday's game, which was followed by fireworks. It turned out to be a helluva game. The home team (Martinsville Mustangs) were down 7-1 at one point, but came back to win 8-7. The winning play was a "walk off wild pitch," if such a combination of terms even exists. Bases were loaded, and the pitcher threw a ball that got away from the catcher, allowing the runner on third to bring the winning run home. Pretty exciting stuff for a small town

So i broke down and picked up some Nason Hi Temp reducer, so if ya'll need to seed your lawns, I suggest you go ahead and do it, as I'll be trying to spray again, which means Murphy will send the rain our way.

The hi temp/slow drying will help a lot to let it flow out.
Where do you get your supplies from?
I get mine at Miller's in Angier.

Dave, this one came from Napa in Garner. They had a good supply of stuff. Nason was the only brand I recognized on the shelf though. Well besides some of the filler stuff (something named slick I think you've mentioned before). Didn't know there was a supply shop in Angier. That might be closer to me.

Miller's is a Car Quest store on 55 down a block from 210.
Miller also has a store in Benson so if the Angier store does not have it they can get it from Benson. If Benson does not have it I think it then comes from Raleigh, I know parts do not sure of body supplies.

So far for body supplies I have gotten paint & thinner from them. For our old trucks they mix the paint as they don't have it on the shelf.
Only thing I did not like when I wanted high temp/slow dry thinner was they only had qt can. That was more then enough for the mix ratio for the paint but I wanted a little more but went with the qt.

I am also from old school where most paint/primer was a 50/50 mix and never measured. So between measuring the paint/thinner mix and the HVLP gun it has been fun.
