When I was growing up as a teenager my parents did not, ah, shall we say particularly approve of my music selections. Mom tended towards the Crewcuts, whoever they were, dad thought anything after Glenn Miller and those guys was junk. I never heard them listen to music too much. But he did like "Riders On The Storm", I remember that. LOL

Yeah, my parents were the Glenn Miller types as well. But they never played the radio in the car, and I always did. However, Dad's '54 Plymouth had a tube-type radio that took some time to warm up. And, it was just in front of the passenger, under the dash. One of my memories is of Dad getting in and heading off for work, and at about the time he got to the intersection in front of the house the radio came on - loud! He almost had a wreck trying to turn that thing down.

Remember "Sing along with Mitch" (Miller)? Back then there was 1 family TV, which Dad for the most part dictated which channel/show to watch, and that was one of them. We lived out in the country and My Grandpa had built this huge/tall TV antenna tower that went a good 20+ ft above the house. We had the directional clicker control that could move it to any direction. At night could pull in stations from all over, and daytime wasn't bad either. I'd stay up late in the summer (no school) and watch the old movies.

In the late 70s I was in the Navy stationed @ Vallejo in NorCal. There was a pretty good bar we went to that had good local bands and also ones that were big but not so much anymore. Moby Grape was one of them. I went up and asked them to play "Motorcycle Irene", but they said they didn't do that one anymore. The Rio in Rodeo, CA; it was a repurposed movie theater.

Good times with my buddies from the boat. I had a '73 Mach 1, 351CJ, 4 sp car back then that for some reason went through a lot of rear tires.
Vallejo....ahh, yes the mothball fleet from what I remember in the early 70s.

I always liked "Fall On You"....I think it was their first album with Skip Spence showin' 'The Bird' on a washboard.... I have the record (what's that?)

Hahaha! Yeah..."Just follow the bouncing ball".......

I like the 'Big Band' sound now...not so much in my earlier years. Johnny Cash was always a staple.

Johnny was great, there was never anybody quite like the Man in Black. He got quite a bit of mileage out guys like Luther Perkins and Grady Martin backing him on guitar. Johnny never did a whole hell of a lot live as far as playing guitar if you watch him. The studio session musicians were the "sound" behind a lot of the big hits back then. Johnny wrote a lot of tunes, too. Later towards the end he owned NIN's "Hurt", though.

The Alumi Brite is an aluminum friendly acid. It does work well too.

My Dad always uses it on his pontoon boat. Just spray it on and it looks good as new. No scrubbing , no wiping.

I'll pick some up next time I'm in a marine dealer - or anywhere that has it. But the GoJo followed by Mothers has the top of the box looking dramatically better, so this would just be for next time.

And, on a different subject, I'm going to go look at these nerf bars in a day or so. Guy doesn't know what they fit, and they can't be for a Bullnose as Westin doesn't make the Platinum for our trucks from what I can tell. But, at $55 for a 240 dollar bar I'm hoping I can can make them fit. And he may well take less as they've been listed for a long time.

I'd like bars that mount to the frame as I might take the truck off road and who knows what I'll hit. So all the strength I can get would be good. And, I want full-length bars to give me better access to the toolbox and bed, and those bars look to be about the right length.

All of my research keeps giving me a headache so I'm thinking I'm just going to buy these and see what I can do. I called AutoAnything yesterday and the guy on there kept telling me that Westin bars mount to the "body frame". I said "Which is it, the body or the frame?" He said "The frame - that's what they call it around here." So, I really don't know.

Also, most websites want to sell me cab-length bars when I tell them I have a regular cab truck.

Thoughts?

Thoughts? Don't use a body-mounted bar attached to both the cab and bed. Pretty obvious, and I'm sure you wouldn't do that, but seemed worth mentioning in the interest of completeness.

Any bar will reduce ground clearance, and makes it more likely that you'll hit when off-road. With frame-mounted bars in particular the trade-off is generally considered worth it because the bars are stronger than the body (so less likely to be damaged). And they are easier to fix/replace if they are damaged.

It doesn't seem like it should be too hard to adapt frame-mount bars that weren't designed for the truck you are putting them on. There will be obvious fit issues to check out. Like does it stick out far enough / too far, is it too long / too short, is it too close to the body / hang down too far. But those will be pretty easy to judge once you have the bars. And if they're cheap enough (and those sound like they are), you might as well get 'em and try 'em!

Gary, my DeeZee boards are attached to the cab with a pair of brackets on the side that attach at the inner flange underneath. If you will keep the damn rain out there I can get a good picture for you. The front has an aluminum "mud flap" that attaches to the front of the board extrusion and the wheel opening in the fender, the center area has two long angled channels that go under the extrusion and up to a flange just above the frame. Rear has a pair of braces to keep the end ridged and they attach to the rear of the cab below the floor area.
