- 24 for a high the next 2 days and then the first week of January has all sorts of predictions from -5 to + 6 so who knows what will happen. The hedge up front fills up with chickadees and they also hide under the awning and drive the cats up the wall, quite a few critters up front.

-29°C hi tomorrow,-25°C Sunday, -20°C Monday, -16°C Tuesday so not a quick warm up until -5°C Friday.
I put up a second suet feeder since the birds were going through it pretty quick. My cats got a few turkey dinners this week.

I'd put out suet or a feeder but I don't want anymore Magpies or crows around here. Sunday/ Monday is our transistion so that should mean a good sized sinus headache.

Before I put my bird seed feeders and suet right outside our living room window the magpies would clean them out in record time. Crows didn`t seem to bother with the feeders.

Bluejays and squirrels clean out feeders around here, crows would too now that they seem to have found a winter home although I haven't seen much of them lately might have gotten too cold for them and they left...

The cats put up enough of a fuss with the wildlife out the front window, so I don't really need to be adding to it as I've got to deal with it in the long run.

We don`t often see Blue jays if at all and so far we don`t have squirrels.
Right now it`s so cold my 2 cats that do go out door don`t care about chasing anything. Even the brass monkeys are in shock.
I used to feed yr round but a few yrs ago I quit feeding during summer.

That I would pay to see Perry!
Here on the farm I can shoot but never have so I`m way out of practise.
What kind of damage do squirrels do John?

They can be like rodents and chew wires and get into your insulation and gathering pine cones. They are just bushy tailed rats...lol

I don`t like the sound of bushy tailed rats!
I`m glad I have a few cats roaming around to keep the mice down. I really like cats and really hate mice, especially after they chewed a hole in my 69 mint Mach 1`s headliner many yrs ago!

As long as squirrels have a safe and sheltered place to nest they seem to be okay. The squirrels here chase after the bigger birds if they think their food is threatened and they can scale a tree a whole lot faster than the cats. These critters know my cats only wish they could mess with them .
