I should have gone with triple panes as well as Styrofoam insulation when I had my new siding put on but like you I got talked out of it. I hate these so called experts that don`t know what they`re supposed to know.

Now I get 3-4 opinions instead of just one sales person, of course the internet is handy too.

I should have gone with my own instincts and demanded the triple panes, now I'm stuck with these ones because I can't afford to change them again on retirement..

I guess it`s a hard to say but are they really that bad that you`d get pay back in 5-10 yrs? I don`t buy green bandannas any more.

We replaced all our window's with triple pane. I would not even thought of anything less. We have a 2 story, and replaced every window, and the front storm door $20,000. Had to be done. It doesn't increase the value, that much now. It has a 25yr warranty, transferable to new owner's, for 10yrs. We did previously have triple pane, but the house was built in '91. Not all the windows
's leaked, but 75% had. They are insulated pvc (I think) frames, and noticed a difference in the summer, with how the house stayed cool. They've been good these past week's, with the low temp's. Have a great evening guy's.

I just don't like seeing ice form around the bottoms and sides of these windows, heat is cheap enough here, I heat 2 shops and the house for under $1,000 for the 12 month period...

What type of heat, in floor, radiant, forced air?
My unheated shop usually stays at -10 with -25 outside.

That`s pretty reasonable for suspended heater units in the shop, how many?

How big are your shops? My older shop is 24 x 40, well insulated but the big bi-fold doors are drafty and my other shop is 28 x 40, same story on the big doors.
