I did drop the bumpers off to have powder coated last week. They couldn't do the spare tire carrier as there is a bearing that is welded in for the latch. I have the paint chip from the powder coater, going to the paint store this week.
As it turns out the really cool oil pan that came on my motor is not designed for a Bronco. The drain plug in the front sump is non accessible as it is right close to the front cross member. and the rear sump gets hit by the front Diffendal before I get anywhere near the suspension travel, I should have. I bought another oil pan designed for the Bronco, but it won't work with the Dart block I have. So, I have decided the best option is to modify the Moroso oil pan that came on the engine.
But, before I start cutting on the oil pan I thought I better get the bump stops where I think they should be. After a couple hours of messing around I think I have it mounted where I want it. I'm using 2" DOM while I'm welding on the mounting bracket so I don't distort it. And I will also be able to easily set the compressed height so I can figure out the oil pan problem.
Making a little progress on the oil pan project. In the photos the suspension is about 1/2" to 3/4" from full compression. Unless I'm in an accident I don't plan on ever getting to full compression, but better safe than sorry.
Not much progress, at least it looks like everything is going to work. I turned an arbor on the lathe to screw into the drain plug opening and center a hole saw so I could remove the front drain plug; I still need to reinstall it in a new location. I tack welded the plate over the opening and checked for fit. Under full compression nothing hits.
