YOu guys might disown me, but sealed the deal on a used GMC truck last night. Needed something to tow my trailer this summer exactly five times, and being unemployed/self-employed means I'm working on a pretty limited budget. Was disgusted by the condition of the Fords I've driven.
Will be picking it up Monday, might post pics if that isn't grounds for public shaming.
Doesn't offend me either. My Dad and I restored a 1933 Chevy Half Ton. He drives it to A&W for coffee every morning in the Summer. When my Mercury is finished, I'll probably join him on the weekends. He's retired, but I still have a job, which is a good thing these days!
I'm old school, run what you brung 77.
Work area clean up still, making a hole big enough to park the scrap trailer in and be able to get it off my bumper. Housing issue could resolve itself next week as the offers will be starting between home owner and purchaser, asking price $281,500 needs $25k in upgrades to bring up to modern standards and makes sure the roof doesnt leak.
Sorry if I missed it but what are you doing for your self-employed gig? Sorry to hear that you were let go also. Been there, happy to be in a company that is still hiring right now.
Not sure if I posted too many details. I started a training/mentoring/advisory consulting company. We're focused on oil and gas, right now drilling, completions and production mostly. I'm lucky to have a few really good guys working with me. I guess if I paid them, they would be working FOR me.
Ha yeah its funny but I think its the right time to start up for sure. When she comes back around you'll already be established and ready to rip. Just gotta be smart about it in the good times so when hard times come again you'll be able to weather it.
