Unless I missed it, a couple times it was mentioned that when checked there was no water. But, was there a steady flow of clean diesel?

Told them about the codes and he said fuel pump notorious for failing. I told him that I thought I might have got some bad fuel and he said highly likely!
So that station I bought fuel at should have to repair it.
Personally, I would never offer up to the dealer that I thought i got a bad load of fuel.
Fuel pumps fail, but I don't think they are notorious for failing. What is notorious is Ford's part on not covering fuel pump issues.
I know he drained the lower fuel pump and checked for water but did he pull the lower fuel filter and replace it.
Wife Passat had a bad filter and would crank no start. Happen with in 200 miles of the dealer changing it. Went to the dealer 3 times to get it fix. Finally I just replace the filter and no more no start.

Thanks...that was a different dealership that I talked to.
Waiting to hear from the dealership.
Hard to say if it was clean diesel fuel or not. Didn't see water but it probably hadn't settled yet

And the truck is a 2011 but currently has 159547 on the odometer which probably isn't accurate
Reading this thread is difficult. Although everyone hopes this is will be a cheap fix, it reads like a story that is going to have a challenging ending. Maybe I've just spent too much time on FTE over the past three years. Hope I am wrong and it's just a bad ground or fuse. Something simple and cheap. Back on the road in a few hours.

Nice looking truck and good luck.
Thanks.... By the puzzled look on the tech's face it's not gonna be a cheap fix ! They gotta get it running to get the codes from the computer. I LOVE MY TRUCK BUT I HATE COMPUTERS 😁
Dealership last said they have to get it running to get computer codes.
Also said they're noticing HPFP problem in that it has too low of pressure.
Didn't hear anything more from them.
They started on it around 1pm today.
The techy looked puzzled every time he tried to start it looking at his computer.
I'm only hoping that this is covered under the diagnostics testing as they charge $120 for the diagnostic tests to determine the problem.
They didn't say plus labor.
Not for nothing, but you need to find another "tech" or another dealer.

The dealership said that they couldn't definitely say it was bad fuel because it's a 2011 and all fuel will likely leave some water in the bottom of the tank but fuel contamination was the cause
I explained to him that bad fuel had to be the cause cuz I just changed all the fluids including fuel filters 2 weeks before I left and that everything worked fine up until I bought fuel at the station and 30 miles later I had the trouble.
I also informed him that I use c-take every 2-4 fill ups .
And then he agreed that it had to be bad fuel.
So... Replace HPFP fuel injectors fuel solenoid fuel filters clean tank for a total cost of up to $9000.00 and it will take a week

Well, thats stinks. I'm glad you didnt throw a bunch of other parts at it first, only to find this. You are about right on having to take out a loan for the repair. I hope you are able to trace the bad fuel back to that station, and get them to cover the repair. the other angle that has worked is to claim it on your comprehensive insurance to get it covered.

Insurance company won't cover damage because dealership would not definitely say bad fuel.
Fuel station wants me to pay the bill up front and they will review the claim.
Stupid dealership! Didn't know that the tank was plastic and said that the VCV was bad but I clearly seen contamination in the fuel from the lower fuel filter and in the pump. Also could see plenty of water droplets in the fuel from the tank.
Techy said you're always gonna have water in the fuel which is true however c-tane is supposed to minimize that.
Just spoke with representative of the fuel station and he wants me to send him a picture of the fuel from the tank and the fuel pump and the paperwork they faxed over with the dealership tech comments on the reason they can't say that bad fuel was definitely the cause cuz they don't have the proper test equipment.
The tech that actually showed me the fuel had the HPFP fuel sample in what appeared to be a spray paint can lid and the tank/rail filter fuel sample in a plastic water bottle like you'd buy at a convenient store... LMAO what the hell kind of operation are they running? LMAO
