Yeah... we Ace them also... but I hate to do that. With them (lab ridgeback mixes), its hit or miss... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I'm late to this show but I felt I could add to the conversation. I carry a big clear pretzel jar with me. Anytime I refuel at anything but a truck stop ( make that a busy truck stop) I run a few gallons into the truck and then take a sample in my jar. Yeah, it's a PITA and I get some strange looks but I have read so many fuel contamination threads on the various diesel sites and the repairs are so expensive that I think it's worth the effort. just a suggestion for anyone who is interested.

And kudos to thee OP. As one old geezer to another I salute your resolve and I'm glad you didn't have to take the hit on the bill.

Not sure where I will end up with the dogs early January. Have to test out the new 50 gallon Titan somehow, ya know. Wife still has a real job so she can't come out and play. Bummer.
You will love it !!

Good thread. Did anyone catch what insurance paid for repairs? Was it Murphy's or the OP's comprehensive or something else?

I have fueled my truck at Murphy's before, I would be interested if they stand behind their product. If not, I will strike them off my list of stations.

UPDATE

Sorry I haven't gotten back in a while but I wanted to let everyone know that my truck back and it's been it's running fine since I got it back.
I've been to California and back while pulling my 5ver and it's performed well!
Fuel mileage at 70mph was average 10.78mpg both ways !
I had the Turbo fixed as well. Needed a gasket and a coolant line replaced.

First off...it was bad fuel. Murphy's USA denied that their fuel was bad and said that their fuel meets specifications.
My friends at the refinery say that's impossible when 74% of all diesel fuel only meets 40% of specifications.
My insurance company covered the cost and are going after Murphy's USA because they tested 2 gallons of the fuel from my tank.

I hope your insurance takes them to task. If successful and you have a deductible, I would assume you would then be reimbursed.

Frustrated

Made the Arizona trip ok.
Frustrated that it was colder there than home so I stayed week and half.
I made it home in 32hrs😮😁... 67Mph and kept the doors closed except to let my four legged buddy potty and stretch.
Made it home xmas eve in time for xmas with the family.
