Yes. Sometimes everything gets confused and a reset can help the system. Obviously at this point your away from the comfort of your home. Let both batteries stay unhooked for 30 minutes then hook me back up and try again.
Don't think the def sensor would keep it from starting...but it might derate the power of the motor.
So far what you have indicated is not within the def system. Do you recall the codes autozone said?
It could be one of 2 things.... Can't see enough now to replace the oil sensor sending unit....and have a friend on the way to help me make sure it's getting fuel

I unhooked both negative and positive cables for 45 minutes and nothing
Ok.helpers....let me start from the beginning.
Last night I fueled and the truck started just fine.I drove 30 miles and stopped to let the dog run . Started the truck and moved to a parking space about 50ft and shut off the truck while I power napped for an hour or two... Truck wouldn't start.
Did notice smoke coming up from exhaust pipe area and noticed oil leak around oil pan and up left side (drivers side) when I shut down for the night
This morning I tried again starting it and after 3 hours it started and ran for a minute and then stopped.
Message center says low oil pressure but truck has oil in it.
So...... It's either the oil pump or it's not getting fuel
